"Absolutely wonderful! Seniors really look forward to the music therapy sessions and enjoy each and every session as well as benefitting from them. The instructor is excellent and extremely talented. Louisville Center for Therapy and Personal Sustainability is very beneficial for the mind; body and spirit. I highly recommend!"
"I completed my music therapy in internship in Spring of 2020. David Farsetti was one of my supervisors during my music therapy clinical work, in a mental health setting working primarily with groups. I could not have asked for more from a supervisor. David made his instructions to his interns clear and concise, so from my first day I knew what was expected of me. After each session I was given feedback on what I had done well, and areas to improve. David also spent time troubleshooting with me to help me learn to identify what in the session I wanted to go differently, and how to better facilitate interventions in the future. He also permitted interns to learn through observation of his sessions, afterward including us in the same process, allowing us to learn from his self-evaluation. Because my internship spanned through the pandemic quarantine, there was a break in our clinical instruction. David saw this problem and countered it by implementing skills training. Each week we would bring a new intervention for a mock session, practicing various techniques, implementing new songs and instruments, and addressing various topics. After we had used the interventions in training, we would then use them in our actual group sessions. These trainings were invaluable to me, it was the time I finally began to feel I was developing competent implementation of skills I had learned in the classroom, and my confidence as an intern was solidified. I used to be terrified of using drums, but because of David's commitment to helping his interns develop all of their skills, group drumming became one of my favorite interventions, and three years later I still use drums every day. While maintaining clear professional expectations, David allows room for his interns to develop self-care skills as well. He encouraged his interns to pay attention to their own needs, acknowledging personal limits and recognizing the professionalism in admitting them to your supervisor. Self-care is a difficult skill, especially for students who feel heavily scrutinized, but one of the most valuable lessons I learned during my internship was the importance of ensuring my basic needs are met before attempting to serve others. There is a healthy balance required to take care of oneself and also maintain professional integrity, and David encourages that balance while demonstrating it himself. On that note, interns will also be encouraged to share limitations in their knowledge and skill, of which David is happy to provide instruction, as well as opportunities to practice development of that skill in a clinical setting. David's knowledge, professionalism, and drive to develop strong, competent music therapists is clear in every day of internship. I am extremely grateful to have had the opportunity to have learned from and worked alongside him. I am honored to recommend him as an internship supervisor for music therapy."
"LCTPS is an invaluable partnership for our organization (Gilda's Club Kentuckiana). Their team of creative therapists were part of our 2022 summer day camp for kids connected to cancer, & their program was one of the kids' favorite offerings of the week. They have also provided a weekly in-person class for adult members living with cancer called Music Heals. While attendance has been up & down due to the lasting fear of covid for those immune compromised members, the LCPTS team has come prepared each week that the class has taken place & they faithfully invest in one attendee with the same enthusiasm as a large group workshop. We appreciate that commitment to excellence & look forward to working with them more ongoing!"
