Reviews of Saint Bernard Catholic Church and School
"The school is so unorganized and has different rules for different people. It does not follow the handbook. Too much gossip and backstabbing. Very little educating going on. My advice would be stay away from that school. My child was so miserable that it got to the point where he cried and didn’t wanna get out of the car because the way he was treated."
"We couldn't have picked a better school for our son! We felt slightly awkward and unsure in Kindergarten, but by reaching out with our questions and concerns, we always received friendly and informative answers from the staff, the parents, Father Bob (previous years), Father Chuck (current) and the students. This community really does seem to take care of each other. When financial hardships occur, the school or the parish try to pitch in wherever they can help. They even helped some families obtain additional groceries during the current social distancing. Our child will even tell people that he wouldn't want to go to school or church anywhere else. He started there in Kindergarten and we'll do whatever we can to let him continue to grow with his classmates until their 8th grade graduation. This is also Father Chuck's 1st year with the parish and he's definitely brought a refreshing spirit and added to the energy level of the community while almost captivating to students with new and interesting teachings. Thank you SBS"
"Beware!!! I My child was miserable at St. Bernard. But no wonder!Between the pettiness, gossip, vindictiveness, and constant backbiting what could a person expect? And that’s just the parents! A perfect example was room parent duties. Not a big deal, right? Well these same mothers made it such an issue that someone was needed to assign and then delegate a room parent’s role. How do I know this? Because they gossip about each other and stab each other in the back! An extremely toxic environment that has trickled down to even the young children. And if you are wondering about the Principal, his name is Fred Klausing,he neglects his duties, let’s the school secretary and others pick up the slack, and behaves In a extremely unprofessional manner.I now understand why so many good teachers left when Klausing became principal. My family couldn’t take this unhealthy environment any longer. We left the school and parish. My child is in another school and doing extremely well. The change has been a night and day experience. And we are much happier. The irony of all of this is the knowing comments made to us after we left. Apparently St. Bernard’s reputation is an open secret!"
"We have been a part of St Bernard church and school for over 10 years. I couldn’t have better things to say. The teachers, the staff, friends that we have met along the way. It has been a perfect fit for our family. I encourage anyone to “shop” when searching for an environment that fits your families needs. For us St Bernard has been that place, my children have excelled and been challenged as well has held to high stands in what is expected in faith and everyday life. I find it very sad that people from St Bernard’s past that didn’t always abide by the rules and found trouble more often than not to ridicule a place that holds value to many families like ours. Wouldn’t trade our days at St Bernard with any other parish or school."
"St. Bernard is a true family. My thirty-one years teaching there were a joy (maybe not every day). What amazed me was that people would return as teachers or with their children. There have been eight teachers, former students, in the last thirty-one years and many "grandstudents". I feel that the St. Bernard gives the students a top notch education and a strong support family."
