"I moved in just a few days ago, and was surprised that my apartment, which was vacant for about 2 weeks, wasn't fully turned (ready). I turned Apartments for 15 plus years, and told the office this, yet they handed me keys to an apartment that wasn't ready. Ceiling fan was missing the pull string for the light, bathtub looked hideous with the peeling of the old horrible glazing it had done to it, floors not cleaned, busted locks on windows, patched but not painted spots in my dining room, missing drip pan, missing shut off on the hot water spicket in the washer box, dirty counters in the kitchen, painted doors that were hard to open, not aligned or missing strike plates on door frames just to name a few things. They did get maintenance out in a day to fix some of these things, but some still linger, and was told I'll just have to wait until they can get to it. I'm really trying to hold out hope that things will turn around, but after reading these reviews, I'm losing faith."
"I’m about halfway through my lease here and cannot wait for it to be up. Move in day: -Apartment was filthy. Items were left in the apartment and on the deck from previous tenant. Dog hair was everywhere. The floors, cabinets, showers and doors were disgusting. -The blinds in my living room appeared to have been burned. -Inside of the cabinets underneath the sinks were all warped from water damage. Under the kitchen sink there was a puddle. -The kitchen sink fixture didn’t work properly. -There was a missing door handle on one of my cabinets and all of the doorknobs in the apartment and on the outside of the front door looked (and still look) like they were mangled. -The AC was broken while I was moving in!! This took over a week for them to fix after I wouldn’t leave them alone. My apartment was over 80 degrees and my leasing agent told me that “I could try” to get maintenance to work on it and that it was normal for it to be that hot inside when it’s hot outside. There ended up being something wrong with it. Since then: -My washer and dryer (that I own) were damaged while the HVAC was being worked on. The office was no help in getting that rectified. -My apartment still constantly smells like cigarette smoke. -The neighboring apartment seemed to be getting gutted, and suddenly I got cockroaches. This started almost two months ago and I have begged to get help with this. I was straight up ignored for 2 weeks, finally got someone out here to spray once, then was told there would be follow ups. There never were. Still working on getting help for that. I have never had this issue anywhere else before. -The amenities and grounds of the property are not well maintained at all. Dog feces, dirty and broken amenities, freezing cold gym and pool room. The pond is beautiful but smells horrible. -The laminate flooring is constantly popping up with wrinkles. Summary This is my first apartment since moving out of notorious student housing. This is no better and twice the price. I’ve never had a living situation cause me this much stress. Save yourself the money and the headache."
"**Please read full review as it may save you unnecessary headaches** My wife and I lived here for a year when we first moved to Kentucky, we needed a place to live until we got resettled in a new state. This place looked great online, but, the reality was much different. The first red flag should have been the lack of communication. Once I was in the process of signing the lease (I was still out of state at this time) it was extremely difficult trying to talk with anyone. They do not answer the phone or return calls even if you leave a message, at least in my experience. When we finally arrived and got into the unit we were appalled at how it looked and smelled. Let me just make a list here so this review doesn't drag on like a filibuster. This list are the items we noticed in our unit day one of living at Racquet Club. - Awful urine smell by front door. - Same strong urine odor in the guest bathroom and guest closet. The bathroom smelled like a truck stop restroom, just musty stale urine. I sprayed it all down with the strongest anti urine odor I could find but nothing fully worked, it was too soaked into the floors/walls. Yes I said walls. - Doors were so over painted that they would stick in the door frame. - There was a floorboard lose under the carpet in the master so if you stepped on it you could feel the floor board pop up and shift. - The bathtub was scoured out and rusty. Same with the shower curtains, rusty and crusty. (When I asked them about this is was treated an an "oops we forgot to tell you" situation. They didn't make moves to fix the situation until we were about ready to move out a year later). - Dirty floors, we had to mop day once since the floors turned our socks black. The mop water turned black, mind you, this is day one. - The water heater was covered in grime and water residue and still had a bunch of empty plastic bags from the previous tenant wadded behind it. The ceiling above the HVAC unit was caving in and had lots of water damage. There was a brown goop oozing out of the HVAC unit, the inside was packed with dust. No way these units have been maintained. - We found a used pregnancy test in one of the bathroom light fixtures, that was a nice touch. - The bathrooms do not have air vents, just these old wall filters that have not been changed in who knows how long. You will have mold issues because of this. - We found wads of hair in the bathroom drawers. The blinds in the master bathroom were caked in some kind of residue and in that residue was hair and dust. - The toilet seats were dirty and mismatched. Always good to have to clean up the previous tenants bathroom mess. - The windows had no weather stripping left, when it rained the water would come down the inside of the windows in the master bedroom. Not to mention it was impossible trying to keep out the cold/hot air during the year. - The dishwasher had the wrong rack inside it so it constantly fell into the machine when you rolled it in/out. - The walls are super thin and not to mention the stairwell outside is against the master bedroom wall. I hope you like listing to people running up and down the stairs at all hours of the day/night. By this point I think you get the idea. From what we experienced I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone. It was a dirty, smelly, worn out dump. Luckily now we live somewhere much nicer and all of this is just a bad memory. Do yourself a favor and skip this place. Its under new management now so hopefully they can turn it around but they will have a lot of work to do."
"Been here for over a year and there have been too many problems for the price and apartment we pay for. Our toilet stopped working several times, barely got maintenance to come out to fix it. We had to wait an entire weekend for them to come and fix it once, not even counting the other times. There is a weed and smoker smell in our bathroom throughout the days from presumably from our upstairs and side neighbors. The windows have lost their seals, so they leak in hot/cold air from the outside constantly which causes the A/C or heat to run constantly. In the winter, there were several weeks where we left out of state and turned our heat off to save money. When the billing came around, we were charged more than the previous months in heating! We called KU and they said their utility guys just come around and "guess" the readings, this upset us very much because it's completely dishonest and flat out lazy work, and they never changed it either. Ended up paying for utilities that we never even used. There's also so many extra fees that they add on. There's a "pest control" fee that they charge every apartment, even though they never do anything with it. They said you have to call and set up your own appointment with maintenance to come and spray it if you want to use it. We did, they come and just spray on the outside of the door and leave. The next day, the same spiders and bugs were inside our apartment again:/ we also pay and "insurance" fee that covers the apartment itself, but you have to buy your own insurance for your belongings in case of a fire or something. So you pay to only cover their property, but whatever else is up to you. There is mold in the shower Caulking that keeps coming back after treating it. Our balcony door recently broke, the seal came off, the door handle broke off and the door just completely doesn't move. It's been over a month now and they still haven't fixed it. The office said that "they don't classify this as an emergency". That is the only other door in the apartment that leads outside. If a fire broke out in front of the main door, we'd be stuck. They said they've been too busy fixing A/C units to come out and fix the door. There are just SO many problems! One right after the other it seems. The paint job is horrible as well, may look okay in photos, but in person there is paint all over the floors, on the door handles and hinges, dried drips all over the doors, walls, and cabinets. The pool has also been delayed to open both last year and this year until after memorial day because of issues that should have been resolved long before those days. The trash also gets very bad at times, it piles up all the way to the curb too often and for several days. Several people don't clean up after their dogs, so we've stepped in their feces, which was literally right next to the stairs, several times. I've also seen the dogs poop on the tennis court several times, that is usually cleaned up but it's still disgusting considering that people bring their little kids there to ride their bikes and run around barefoot all the time. Do not trust the "luxury apartments" sign that they have. This is anything other than luxury, and guess what, they still raise the rent every year! Don't count on them to answer your questions or needs, because they won't. They'll "email" the manager for you, but you'll have to bug them about it for days if not weeks to get an answer or something done."
