Eastlawn Apartments

"What can I say that hasn't already been said about this "wonderful establishment"? I lived there for 2 years with my mother years ago, she took immaculate care of her apartment, returned her keys with the apartment in better condition than when she moved in, yet received not a penny of her deposit back. My younger sister then had an apartment in the same building that the owner/manager, Mr. Meade, has his office. My sister caught Mr. Meade, as well as a maintenance person, in her apartment without her permission or knowledge on more than one occasion. A renter's personal life is of too much interest to the staff there, and my sister longer felt safe in her own home. Also, if you do make the mistake in choosing to live there, never be more than 5 days late or he will change the locks on you, regardless of the actual law, and despite what his own lease states. My opinion is obvious, but there are many, many more people that will tell you very similar things. Avoid this place like the plague."

"Some of the apartments are really nice, it's usually the senior citizens that keep them nice, but more and more there is violence, gun violence, police hauling people out. There are families that leave dirty toys and rubbish outside. The place used to be top notch but now it's run down and seems like a dangerous place to live."

"I lived there for 2 years, and I truly regret moving in there. The only reason I moved there is because he doesn't do background checks and he took Sec.8. The roaches were AWFUL. The water would turn off in the complex for weeks. The neighbors would literally sit outside everyday drinking liquor and smoking everything. I have video evidence of a man at my door, literally playing with himself, and NOTHING was done about it. I also have video evidence of water flowing out of my kitchen cabinets. The water ran, not leaked or dipped, it flowed. It flowed so much that mold grew on it. I had to call the Health Dept., all Mike ( the so called, maintenance man) did was spray something on it. It DID NOT stop the water flowing or the mold growing. The water flowed so much that it affected my bathroom ceiling, and the ceiling was crumbling down. The maintenance man, Mike, is a HUGE LIAR. I had to move out because my apartment (1501 E. 8th St. Bldg. 10, Apt.1) failed inspection 3 months in a row. I took Mr. Mead to court, and he produced a bogus lease stating the my rent was supposed to be higher, but the paper wasn't signed by neither him or myself. The Judge didn't even look at any of the evidence that I had. I had a Pro Bono Attorney, that in my opinion, did nothing for me. Mike (the so called maintenance man) went to court and said that I refused to let him in the apartment and that I pulled a SHOTGUN out on him. That NEVER EVER happened, and if it did, when did it supposedly happen, and where is the police report and Mr. Mead definitely would have evicted me. I took a video of the apartment when I moved out, it was left in very clean condition. It has been a year since I HAD to move out, and I am truly happy where I am. All I have to say is, DO NOT MOVE TO ANY PROPERTIES THAT ARE OWNED OR LEASED BY ROBERT MEAD. He never gives your deposit back, and he has Mike in his pocket."

"This Robert Mead who owns or manages these apartments is one of the worst people/slumlords you will meet. These apartments have roaches and have for years according to several residents past and present but he does nothing to resolve the issue. If tenants complain or call the health department he acts like its their fault the bugs are there and evicts them. This guy needs to be held accountable and pay back the money he has stolen from people...never giving deposits back or anything. You have been warned. At the least, He should pay to have them sprayed every month. Before deciding to move in here, the bugs are hiding under the refrigerator, microwave, and other appliances, under the carpet near the edges, in the air vents, and who knows where else."
