"I have been living in one of GVA's properties for two years, and have to say, if you can afford to do everything in your power to avoid leasing with them. Their customer service is pathetic, when we have an issue we call and we call and we call and maybe 1 in 10 times someone picks up the phones, and they NEVER respond to the voicemails they ask you to leave if they don't pick up. The two times i have gotten a response to an email they have proceeded to do absolutely nothing about the problem i went to them with. For example, just a few days ago i came home from work to a 97 degree apartment at midnight when the thermostat was set to 70. Called multiple times in hours, no answer ever. Emailed, got a response saying put up the dog and we'll have someone look at it. There is no dog. Then got another response saying "oh well its winter you dont need it to be cooler." Finally they agreed to send someone, which never happened. Pathetic customer service. If any of them are reading this i suggest they learn how to pick up a phone and how to not accuse their tenants of falsehoods. Its a novel idea."
"We love this apartment complex! We needed an apartment asap and my husband went in and they gave him a tour THAT DAY and he got it the next. Im completely obsessed with the interior and we had awesome neighbors and just an awesome experience all around. They have a dog park which we loved! It’s in a great location near base if you’re military, and several fast food near too.Kristin was so helpful the day we moved in, and Zulma was amazing when we moved out!! I absolutely recommend this place!! Thank you Kristin and Zulma ❤️"
"It’s been 8 months since I moved out and they still owe me 1/2 my deposit back. I moved out on 3/13/2023. I gave them a $150 deposit when I moved in. When I moved out I was told I would have to hire a cleaning company to clean the apartment as well as the carpets and show a receipt as proof in order to get my full deposit back. I hired a cleaning company, I turned in the receipt when I turned my keys in. I only received 1/2 of my deposit in the mail because the office had poor communication and charged me for the apartment cleaning. So I called them and apparently they submitted another payment for the other half to be paid out but I have yet to receive it and they won’t answer or return my calls. I moved out 8 months and 1week ago. More then half a year has gone by and they still owe me $75. I have contacted the office multiple times already to discuss my final account statement. Calvin says there’s nothing more they can do and that it’s up to corporate. GVA gave me a phone number to call and no one ever answers and no one ever calls back. I just want this resolved. If the tables were reversed and I owed money to this company they would report it to the credit bureau and send it to collections. If I was living there and owed money they would threaten eviction. But you guys owe me money and there’s no penalty for that."
"I would not rent from such rude disrespectful staff. They will take in anybody. We had the DEA over that busted into an apartment. Also tons of drug problems.When addressed about the problems they brush it under the rug. The children will stand in front of your car and not move. Just the other day a father encouraged his child to fight another child for no reason.My daughter was bullied and the kids threatened to jump her. Thank God I found a house in a safe neighborhood for the safety of my family. GVA should be ashamed of themselves for the disrespectful way they treat hard working people. So I would give this place no stars and do not risk your family living in hostile environment."
"Rented with GVA for 3 years at their parkway place location. Issues were minimal while living there, save for the ones that others have already mentioned. IE: completely incompetent and unresponsive office staff, some of whom have outright lied to me about one thing or another when I did finally get someone on the phone. (The trick is to press 0 when you call in to get sent to the first available office staffer). Most of my issues started when I began the process to move out. I followed my end of the process to the letter. Gave ample notice (60 days, per the lease) and was even out of the apartment a couple of days prior to when I said I would be. (They tried to charge me day to day for the ones I did not stay). I ensured that the apartment was immaculately clean when I left, and even took it upon myself to take care of some things that I didn't have to in order to smoothly transition out of the apartment. One of the instances where I ran into problems was trying to schedule a move out inspection where I was present. Per Tenn. Code Ann. §66-28-301(b)(1)(B): Joint Inspection Upon Vacating: This is required if the tenant requests it. I went to the office in person to schedule the appointment for the inspection, (and was even made to turn in my keys BEFORE the inspection was scheduled) only to find that on the date/time of the scheduled inspection, maintenance was already in the apartment doing their turn. When I called the office to ask why I wasn't present for their inspection, the brushed me off and said they had already done it and hadn't found any issues (other than damages to blinds, but more on that in a second) and that they didn't feel the need to do one with me. I scheduled it for noon on a Friday, which is a very awkward hour for someone who works in Nashville, so I took the whole day off for it which turned out to be a huge waste of my time and in turn, money since I lost out on a days pay for it. Now, for the blinds. When turning in my keys, I was advised by a maintenance supervisor that no charges should be applied to my account considering blinds, since they were planning on updating the blinds for the unit regardless. I have a signed and dated paper saying as much, that was signed with a manager whiteness. A copy was supposedly given to the corporate accounts manager who brushed my inspection off, and Interestingly enough, he "didn't see it" and still applied the blind charges to my account, leaving me to owe them $30, instead of THEM owing ME $150 from my deposit. I can't help but wonder if this charge would have been applied if I had been present for my inspection like I asked to be. After a ton of fighting with the office, it was finally corrected, however it is now the end of September (lease ended early August) and I have YET to be given the remainder of my deposit back. When calling to inquire about it, all the blame is being placed solely on the corporate office, and absolutely no accountability is being taken. This is an issue, because per Tenn. Code Ann. §66-28-301(g)(1): Deadline for Returning Security Deposit: The landlord must return a tenant’s security deposit within 30 days. When I advised the office of this code, and that not returning my lease is against the law, they simply said "no it isn't" and directed me to corporate again, whom I've YET to receive a response from. TL;DR, If you're looking for someone to rent from, look elsewhere. They'll be nice to you when you're signing that lease, but as soon as it comes to your needs or rights as a tenant, they couldn't be bothered in the slightest to do the right thing. If I could give a 0 star review, I would. My next stop is to contact the BBB to provide them with yet another complaint about this company. (Look them up, they're almost bas bad as the reviews on Google.) They're probably gonna reply to this and ask me to contact them so that this can be "taken care of" but I say: you know who I am, and you have my contact information. YOU contact ME and we can discuss how you can give me MY money. Edit: they never called me. Shocker."
