"Overall, dissapointing experience. I understand ER's can be chaotic. My wife was a nurse, who worked in a ER, for a few years, before also realizing how poor these places can be..and deciding to pursue a new career. I've heard alot of really disappointing stories from her about the way medical professionals behave in these settings. Never met the doctor, but spoke to a PA or NP, i can't recall her exact job title. I felt very rushed, and a sense of disinterest.. at one point was told she didn't have time to talk to me, and had to go. I wasn't trying to inconvenience anyone..but I was at an ER, so i figured that was the place to ask about my symptoms. I appreciate them at least speaking to me briefly..but even the people with me (who were visiting me from out of state) said they felt like this ER really lacked quality and a sense care. Sadly..I told them it's reflective of alot of places here. They didn't run any substantial tests. I was actually told their ER can't run some blood tests. Alot of healthcare professionals here, you get told to wait, and speak to someone else. Doctors here love to pawn you off onto a different doctor, that takes half a year to get into. In my experiences, you just don't get great care around here. About 10 years ago..I was seeing doctors in Lexington, KY. I was complaining of chronic weakness, muscle pain..i was feeling so sick I could barely function. I had an abundance of doctors in Lexington..from ER, primary doc, specialists, etc (all of which i have documented proof of) ..dismiss my concerns..tell me it was all in my mind, etc. They were certain nothing could possibly be wrong, that I was okay..and they made me feel like what I was experiencing lacked validity. A couple years later, I left to go to Los Angeles, California..to attend University, as an adult. I found proper, educated, and compassionate doctors...doctors who cared, and didn't dismiss my concerns and just move on, just because it was more complex than what they wished to have to deal with. Or maybe there was more equality in the care I was receiving now. The difference in care I received in a properly educated place..was night and day. It turns out, I have an incurable neuromuscular disease, that was causing the majority of my issues. Diagnosed through an actual muscle biopsy and proper blood work..both sent to specialists at Universities. But had I listened to doctors in Lexington Ky..who dismissed me and shamed me.. I would never have known. So, my advice if your dealing with issues and you recieve poor care here..not surprising, but don't give up. I hope the best though, for the healthcare workers here, and the patients..because alot of people out here need help, and they really rely on what's available. So, I pray the workers here keep a kind heart and open mind. And God bless those who seek help. But..I cant say I've had the best experience at the ER. Most of all, I feel doctors and healthcare staff here really let personal emotions and judgements get in the way of doing a job. When I was living in other places..doctors would really look into your issues without a feeling of judgment."
"I had to go there twice in one week. I met 5 people (MA, Ins Register, RN, MD, RN), Staff was straightforward and professional with the exception of one RN that was a terrible communicator. The physician (T. Anderson MD) was excellent, went above and beyond. I do believe that registering/verifying insurance or payment should be done in a more subtle way, and not in the middle of the preparation process, as they did mine right in between placing an IV and going to the exam room, I must say the lady was very sweet. Considering date/time, volume of patients and staff available my experience was very good."
"I went to the ER because I was told by my personal doctor, because my Blood sugar levels were basically 450-500 and I’m type 2 diabetic . The wait time to get checked in and seen was normal for a ER, but the getting taking care for. Hahah that’s was funny. Seen by the doctor two time, once for being checked in and 2nd to tell me. O these your levels. I was just giving a IV with water in my arm and place back out in the waiting room. Not seen by any nurse but one doctor. Was there overall 4 hours. When your own doctor tells you to go in the ER because there’s a possibility of a stroke due to sugar levels over 450-500. You think I get help. Nope noting. And I bet you, I be charged over $1000 just for sitting in a wheelchair in the waiting area with a IV that basically water. Even over heard the nurse said it’s basically water. Great health care system we have here in America."
"I had an ER visit a few days ago for an episode of tachycardia which had lasted 8 hours. When I arrived at the ER, staff immediately took my vitals and wheeled me to a room. Their kindness and efficiency were legendary. Lara, the wonderful paramedic I saw first, put in an IV very skillfully-3 days later I still have no bruising! Every staff member was not just courteous but personable and caring. Treatment was swift, and I trusted the doctor and nurses implicitly. I will always go to Baptist and highly recommend. I felt like people were genuinely interested in giving me excellent care, while at the same time making it a very pleasant experience."
