Reviews of Dollar General
"The dollar store on Sheperdsville Road in Louisville ky looks like it's closing. The shelves are bare and has been that way for a few weeks. Looks like they haven't seen a delivery truck in weeks. If not closing someone needs to do their job. Cause it look bad."
"This is a typical Dollar General store.... Overstocked and understaffed. The morning male Manager and the evening female manager are two of the nicest people. They are always kind to everyone."
"They tried to steal my money. I had to call the police and then I got my money back. I have never had a problem with them before. I had my receipt and proof but they were just going to lie like they were calling someone to get confirmation but she was waiting me out so I could leave. Don't go to this dollar general they are dishonest."
"This location has great selection and is clean. Yet the managers are horrible at customer service. When I went to this DG, only one register was open, with 3 employees in the same aisle, stocking the same shelf. At least one was a manager. The line was backed up through the aisles, to the back of the store. Every employee, except the one at the register, refused to answer any question put forth by customers. They just stared over or to the side of their heads while pursing their lips. Even when one pushed her way (rudely) through the line of customers and was less than a foot away from the patron she refused to verbally respond when queried. All of the females working (all were women except the cashier) acted as if we were getting in the way of their work by shopping there. The customers were very disgruntled. I felt sorry for the young cashier, whom was doing his job well. They were backed up because they had one register open on Labor Day afternoon, not due to any sort of ineptitude on his part. Since he was the only one that would speak to customers, and the only one the other employees would answer, he became the middle man. When he asked if they were going to open another register, he was given a curt retort informing him that a drawer was being counted. 20 minutes later the till was finally placed in another register, although the light indicating it was open remained off. A manager announced she would take a couple of customers. Her face could not have communicated more displeasure if she had tried. She exuded resentment and discontent, and put so much force into her frown it probably left marks. We all heard the young male cashier asking the manager to fire him. I believe he was only hallf-way joking. This experience was not unique. I have frequented many Dollar General Stores across several states, and have found that a long line at the one register open while the rest of the staff are stocking shelves is practically a hallmark of the store chain. So is the ridiculous amount of time they take to count a register drawer. The main differences between stores is the convenience of location, cleanliness, product selection and placement. The only other characteristic that makes one DG stand out from another is the level if poor customer service. The better ones are simply indifferent, others are so rude they make the visit I just described sound overtly pleasant. But several employees refusing to speak to all customers was unusual."
