"So my daughter went to this daycare when she was in the infant room and I loved it. I loved Dana and Shasta soooo much. They were very attentive to my daughter and loved her like their own kid. When she turned 18 months and was about to be moved into the toddler room we took her out of this daycare because of the excessive yelling at the children that me and other parents witnessed when walking through the daycare to pick up our children. So we moved to a daycare in the town that I teach in but took her out in March when the pandemic hit. It's been six months of having my daughter home with me but I have started work again and my poor husband who works nights has been watching her during the day and not sleeping. SO I call Grandview Daycare and explain my situation and how we need childcare for tomorrow and ask if they have any openings for the 2's room. They say yes and I can come and pick up the paperwork. As I'm on the phone I ask if the teachers wear masks inside and the girl on the phone says that if she's being honest that no, they do not, because they are around he same kids every single day. (Clearly she doesn't realize that these kids are NOT around her family and people she sees outside of work everyday and the mask if for the kids, not her). But anyway, I let that slide since we are desperate. I talk to the teacher who will be with my daughter in the afternoons and ask her a bunch of questions but the one that bothered me most was that when I asked if she yells at the kids she said yes and then gave me an example of her yelling. It was loud and mean and definitely not what I would want for any child. But I let that slide, too, because, again, I'm desperate. This daycare has had no positive cases and has been really good at taking temperatures and sending kids home and refusing sick kids, so I was going to let my daughter come here regardless of the yelling. So I go home, fill out all of the paperwork, pack a lunch, pack a bag with snack and a bag with clothes and diapers and wipes. Grab her nap mat and a pillow and blanket and teddy and write her name on everything with a sharpie. Get the car all packed up and head to the daycare. My daughter wore the outfit we had picked out to bed that night because she was so excited to finally be around friends. She could not stop talking about playing with friends when she woke up and all the way to the daycare center. We unload and head to the front but stop to take first day of school pictures when a teacher opens the door and asks if she could help up. I tell her that my daughter is starting today and I have all of the paperwork and talked to Brittany last night who said that it was cleared and there was space for her in the twos. Well she then told me that she doesn't know why Brittany would say that because they are completely full and have no room for my daughter. So we had to just pack up the car and leave and my daughter was extremely confused and sad because she didn't understand why the lady wouldn't let her in to go see friends. I have officially lost hope in this daycare and will definitely be searching out other options."
"I have to say I'm glad my daughter gets to be apart of this daycare. All the ladies treat the children as if they were their own and if you ever have a problem or concern the owner is very sweet and will listen to you and resolve the problem."
"They have an amazing learning routine. Such warm and understanding teachers. They made sure to ID me when picking up my child the first time! Policies that keep the kids safe - they follow. I mean I am more than pleased!"
