"I don’t appreciate getting shuffled around and then not talked to about what’s going on. I had to ask multiple times for a nurse or to speak to a doctor to get any answers or results."

"Everyone we encountered was caring and kind. I have no complaints. They took the time we needed and got our girl taken care of."

"I took my 11 month there last week, he was running a fever of 101.6 and I informed them that he was diagnosed with an ear infection but I thought he has strep too because he didn’t wanna eat or drink and when he did he acted like it hurt. Well the attending didn’t swab him or anything but wanted to give him a catheter to see if he had a UTI. I of course refused because he didn’t act like he had one, well the next day I took him to his pediatrician and it turns out he had an ear infection and a bad case of strep. So in my opinion UK pediatric er was lousy that night, the attending acted as if she didn’t care."

"So, my 2 year old had to be seen this week due to a fall at school which needed stitches. I wanted to praise the nurses and doctors during our visit. They were all fantastic! The team that they have that helps distract the children when the procedure takes place, were so great! If it weren't for them, it would have been impossible to keep my child still. We were there for a few hours but, I think that's expected with all ERs. Now, the reason for 4 stars and not 5 is due to the fact that when we were discharged, the next shuttle was going to be about 20 min. Having a child whom is medicated (toddler "drunk") is very hard to carry or keep occupied. So, since I was there by myself with my child, I had no help when walking back to car. Which by the way was a far walk! My hopes are that one day there would be a stroller of some sort that one could borrow and then bring right back to the intake area of ER. This would make the trip back to the car a whole lot easier. Anyway, UK ped. ER staff is fantastic and deserve praise!"

"My oldest child had been to UK’s pediatric ER twice before and I’ve never been as disappointed as I was yesterday. My child has RSV, he is struggling to breathe. They suctioned him several times but he was still wheezing. When they went to send us home my 3 month old threw up every where on the ER bed. Every time he throws up he struggles really hard. The nurse watched him do this. They asked if we felt comfortable to go home. I told her I did not because he is not breathing normal and he just threw up like I felt like what they were doing was not helping. They said “well really he’s fine, just go home and if he turns blue or anything then come back.” I explained that I lived almost 2 hours away. Waiting until then i was afraid we may not make it back in time. We took him to that hospital because we believed they would help him because we thought they were the best around. They still sent us home. So today we have had to take our son to another hospital hoping they can help. We had to pay the copay at UK while we were there and now we have to cough up another $250 for the hospital we’re currently at that is telling us they can’t help us that we need to go to UK. Like UK could have prevented all of this just by listening to me."
