"This place is a joke, especially the Partial hospitalization program. They discharge the ones that actually need help & 1 on 1 time, & teach people to sweep things under the rug. They keep the ones that laugh & joke & say & perform inhospitable slurs. It’s sad this place isn’t supposed to be a joke. They expect people to want to open up & talk about their problems in an environment that’s unwelcoming & inhospitable. You can feel the vibe that they don’t care here. Coming here has made everything worse for myself. I wish I never came here. Waste of time!! Even the Doctor was confused on why I was being discharged so early. They DO NOT CARE!! If I could rate 0 stars I would. I actually need assistance & help. I can care less about a smoke break or gym time."
"I have nothing but good to say about Cumberland Hall. I went in 2020 when they had a military side and found the treatment to be helpful. Everyone will complain about the food and sleeping arrangements but it’s not bad at all. You are there for treatment not to be comfortable. I enjoy that the staff has various backgrounds so it makes the DBT sessions to be helpful. The providers are nice and listen to you. This is not a bad facility, it’s what you make it. If you are there it’s for a reason and it’s to get the help you need."
"My fiance went there and I almost cried because it was so awful. Horror stories would be the only way to describe it. You don't get better, she had to lie to get out of there. There was a school shooter there that was scarily obsessed with her and the staff did not care one bit. The food was disgusting. Her roommate threatened to kill her when she woke up in the morning. One girl tried to say that she wasn't getting the help she needed that she was in fact getting worse, and the staff told her that if she was more responsive to the care then she wouldn't be getting worse. Please don't send your loved one's here it is a disgusting hurtful place that will only hurt them worse, if you love them at all DO NOT SEND THEM HERE. I believe that this place should be shut down. Its all so inhumane. Disgusting"
"Definitely won’t be coming back here, there’s was constant fighting between the kids(adolescence and rainbows) and the staff doesn’t handle it as they should. while I was there, three girls got in a fight with someone else, and 3 of them ended up having fractured hands and bruising, the fight went on for almost an hour, constant screaming and slapping while the workers done nothing. not to mention it took 3 days for them to even get an X-ray. then, during an argument with some adolescents, one of the rainbows were just sitting there, watching it happen and crying the whole time and once again, the adults dons nothing. there was also a night that we got in trouble and lost “shower privileges” and we didn’t get to take a shower one night all because someone got in trouble, and even people who didn’t do anything got punished for it, they also didn’t let us brush our teeth and hair one night as a punishment. there was always cussing between the workers, adolescences and rainbows, and they just let it happen. and during my nights there, my roommate was always having tantrums and hurting the workers and i asked for my room to be changed, and I was told no. the next night i asked a different worker and got it changed, but my request for a new room shouldn’t have been turned down because i told them i was worried about my safety. and the adolescents teacher, Mrs.Batts was very rude to some of the kids, not to me personally but she did act different towards different kids. also, they got the laundry mixed up multiple times. and one night there was a girl, self harming(scratching herself till it bled) and I told a worker, and all she said was “I know, don’t pay attention to her. she wants attention.” now, seriously? and when kids were missing home, and crying or having panic attacks the workers didn’t do anything. I had a friend crying and having a panic attack from other kids arguing, and the workers done nothing. Instead, one of the other adolescents had to calm her down, most of us had to calm each other down because the workers wouldn’t do anything. and one of the nights we had to get strip searched and i was very uncomfortable and instead of being calm about it and understanding, the girl was being rude towards me. not to mention, i heard the staff talking bad about some of the patients, or sometimes an adolescent and a staff member would talk bad about other patients together. and they day i was leaving, i had no idea until my family session. I asked multiple workers and my therapist about what day i was leaving(even the night before i left) and they would just shrug their shoulders. and my mom, and grandma would try to call and multiple times they didn’t get an answer. and there was one night i was at the front desk and one of the staff just sat there as the phone rung, and then after almost 5 minutes she picked up the phone, and hung up instantly. Not to mention, we were talking about self harm topics one day, and one of the staff made one of the adolescents stand up and ROLL UP THEIR SLEEVES and show their (recent) self harm scars to everyone, as she stood there crying asking if she can roll her sleeves back up. this place didn’t help me out at all. I learned better coping skills from the other adolescents in there with me. the staff didn’t teach me anything. but, I will give them one star because the food they gave us was actually good, but other than that I don’t recommend sending your child here, or checking yourself in here."
"Avoid this facility at all costs! This hospital (if you can call it that) is an absolute disaster. My 14yr old spent a week at this facility and came home worse than when she was admitted. She described it like a daycare, there was no structure and there were constant fights between patients. She has told me many stories about how nurses would taunt the "rainbows" (children) by calling them names and telling the older kids to flip the little ones off or call them obscene names to see what the "rainbows" would do. My daughter was injured while there and no one notified me, I found out during her family discharge meeting when she walked in with an ice pack on her face! Their excuse for not notifying me was the nurse got busy and didn't have time to call me, even though she and a few other employees acknowledged it is their policy to notify the guardian if an injury occurs. My daughter said the facility itself is disgusting, dirty, and there are roaches everywhere! I called after two days of admission to get an update on her and her assigned nurse said "she should get a phone call tonight I would direct all questions to her I don't know anything about her". The communication with parents about admission care plan, discharge plan, or anything else is almost non existent. I got a phone call from a physician ONE time during her admission and that was a student on his last day of rotation before he moved to another assignment simply asking me about her medication. The only positive feedback I have is the front desk staff is friendly and helpful."
