Reviews of Bill Monroe museum
"You have to visit this museum. It's not big but has everything you need and thr staff are very courteous!"
"An absolute must see for any bluegrass fan! The museum is a perfect tribute to the Father of Bluegrass, his life, his legacy, and his music. Many of the items on display were donated by family, and include antique furniture from his family home, autographed memorabilia, clothing, albums, jewelry, and fan-made collectibles. We were able to tour the museum in its entirety in about an hour, but easily could have spent another hour browsing if we weren't pressed for time. The museum attendant working was extremely friendly and knowledgeable, and while the museum itself is self-guided, she checked on us several times to see if we had questions or needed anything. We were so appreciative of her hospitality. In fact, she offered to find a volunteer willing to meet us at Bill Monroe's childhood home, which is a quick drive from the museum. It was not open at the time of our visit, but very thoughtful of her to try to make arrangements for us to visit. If had we had more time, we would have taken her up on it. There are a lot of keepsakes available for purchase in the giftshop, such as t-shirts, CDs, post cards, handmade jewelry, and even re-purposed wooden boards taken from the original re-built Monroe boyhood home that was renovated within the last few years. Proceeds from gift shop purchases help keep the museum in operation. Across the street from the museum is a small general store where music is hosted on Friday nights. We plan to visit again sometime during the summer and hope to tour the homestead then. Make sure, before leaving town, you stop at the nearby Rosine Cemetery where Bill and many of his Monroe family members are interred."
"Bill Monroe's museum is a great place to visit, articles of his, music instruments, his car and a lot of his personal things. Also the cemetery where him and his relatives are berried. Uncle Penn,s cabin is close by along with the Old Barn Jamboree and the Bill Monroe Home place is within 3 miles of each other,I would suggest that you plan to spend a day visiting the town of Rosine, well worth your time.. Take in a meal at the country resturant located on Hwy. 62 and Hwy. 1544 the main part of town."
"Nice building with a lot of potential in the museum. The staff was very friendly."
"They just opened this year 2018 in April so they are not done hanging all the pictures and setting up all the rooms and they keep getting more memorabillia all the time so I'm sure its a job to keep up. The price was $5.00 and being able to take a picture of bill's different mando's was worth that and there are alot more historical artifacts to see and history to learn. We bought shirts, a hat and if all things a Blue Grass Cookbook of recipies from people in the town. I can't wait to try some out. Right now is your chance to have your name memorialized in brick for $100.00 or $250.00 that will be part of the entry to the museum. Our names, state and date will be on our brick. They have a few campspots if you need one. About the manager, Jody. She is a sweetheart, very personable and made us feel very welcome. Our motorhome busted a part and I needed to have it shipped to where I could get it. She let me have it shipped to the museum when I was a state away and not there yet. Thank you so much for your help."
