"Wonderful accommodations for our church and leaders to fellowship and gather for meals, worship, and everything else under the sub. The hotel rooms were spacious, clean, and accommodating."
"We took a men's group with about a 50 guys there for a weekend retreat and had a great time. The setup was quite nice and the staff was friendly and organized. We were also very happy with the food at the cafeteria and the cafeteria staff were friendly and fun. Cannot say enough good things about the reasonableness of pricing, the quality of the lodging and food along with a beautiful location on the Frio River. We did not know this when we planned our retreat way back, but we were also there for the October of 23 angular eclipse of the Sun. That was a pleasant surprise to be out at the dead center path for the event. This was our first time at this camp and all of the guys had very positive feedback and our event went as well as it possibly could. This is a great place and we had an affordable camp / retreat also. Thank you very much Alto Frio and a special shout out to Cindy and Brandi for all their help setting up and organizing the event before we got there!"
"We came here for pre-Easter camp, and it was lovely. The buildings are older but well cared for. The nurse is available 24/7. The meals included a great salad bar. There were various kinds of facilities for different group needs. There was a walking trail full of beautiful wildflowers that led back around to the river."
"Went to Alto Frio for a weekend Ladies Retreat with my amazing church ladies, or cabin sisters as I fondly refer to them, and at least a couple hundred other women from all around South Texas. I've been going to events at Alto Frio since I was a teenager some half a century ago. Lots of upgrades, new buildings, etc. Those running the Encampment have faced difficult seasons in keeping up with the times, financial burdens including costs of operation, ongoing repairs and other maintenance, but the camp, which was established in 1920, has stood for decades and been a blessing to thousands! Maybe millions!"
"Spent quite a few weekends in this area of the Frio River in Leakey, TX this past year. Between Kayaking, river floating, July 4th fireworks, watching deer run, and having coffee on the front porch as the sun rises, this year’s getaways were very relaxing and rewarding. If you’re looking for a getaway in the Hill Country of Texas, look to Leakey, TX."
