""Custom orders are our SPECIALTY!! So, If there is ever anything you are looking for, Let Us Know! We will be happy to accomodate you in anyway we can!! THANKS!!!!" I couldn't agree more with this statement from Don's website. I needed to buy 4 custom cedar corbels and 8 rafter tails for an exterior house accent. I called the Cedar Creek Woodshop to see if they could help me with this project. Don immediately asked me to email him what I had on mind. I sent him a couple of drawings with the dimensions and met with him the following day to go over the details. Don was able to take time from his busy schedule to accommodate my order that was time sensitive. Highly recommended! I will definitely be using Don again for any woodworking projects!"
"Don was great to work with we purchased our swing for our front porch he took a few months to make, well worth it! Delivered it, set it up as we are local and it still works and looks beautiful and it is now 4 years old! Now wanting to purchase another swing for the back yard. Beautiful work! Thank you!"
"I have no doubt that the craftsmanship is solid and they have a good website with many pictures of items for sale. Just please understand: DO NOT DRIVE OUT TO THIS LOCATION IN ROSENBERG IF YOU ARE A POTENTIAL CUSTOMER, especially if you live in Houston. There are no displays to look at, there are no swings to choose from, etc. There is nothing in this workshop except raw wood and woodworking tools used to make what you see on the website. Items are made AFTER they are ordered online so don't drive out to this location unless you have already ordered something and are picking it up."
"Purchased 60" fan back porch swing. This is one of the only places that makes a 60" fan back. Swing was as described. I did have to sand in the curves on the arms with a dremmel, edges were not as smooth as I wanted. Wood is rustic red cedar, as described. I have two hardwood red cedar gliders that I was hoping to match, the rustic red cedar wood is not as nice as the hardwood red cedar, it is softer, more like what you can find at lumbermill. Hardwood is higher quality, found at a hardwood dealer. Ironically not much different in price. This swing would truely be heirloom if it were in hardwood. Rustic red cedar required tinted sealer to achieve color, otherwise looks more like pine unfinished. I wrapped the swing chains in 1/4" manila rope. About 75' of rope needed for each side. $6 for 50 ft. at hardware store. Owner was accommodating. Took awhile to ship, he had three orders ahead of me. Assembled right away."
"Received the Texas Star porch swing for Christmas and couldn't wait for spring to come so we could start swinging. Put the swing in storage until mid April and when we took it out we were sadly disappointed in the quality of the craftsmanship of the swing. We contacted Don the owner who initially seemed very nice and willing to help. I sent him pictures of the swing and he advised us that the swing was not meant to stay boxed up until spring and that he has no control of how the wood might turn, twist or bend having been in storage for 4 months. We're not sure how being out of the box might have made a difference but we accepted his explanation. Once the swing was out of the box and we started putting it together we realized that the bottom slat on the back part of the swing had a 1/2" gap that prevented us from putting the swing together. We contacted Don again to explain that this was not a "mother nature" problem but rather a defect as there was no way "mother nature" could have unscrewed and re-screwed the screws while sitting in storage. The last conversation we had with Don was the worst customer service experience I have ever encountered. He refused to acknowledge that the swing had been shipped with a defect despite the fact that we told him we could fix it and wasn't looking to return the item. He became defensive, indignant and hung up on us. So, if you ever visit his website, all the claims of happy customers, warranties for life and excellent customer service are just that...words on a website because he definitely didn't make us happy customers, the customer service was horrible and forget the warranty because he will say it was "mother nature's" fault and will not believe what an honest customer has to say. I would not recommend purchasing any products from this workshop. On a good note, after about 2 hours of "fixing" our new swing we were able to make it work and will enjoy it despite our overall experience."
