"This was my first time at this salon a week and a half ago and today was my THIRD time visiting. Sunday I went to fix my nail because my acrylic had peeled off??? Never had that happen. The guy who fixed my nail was watching the football game on his phone the entire time. Today I went back because my index finger broke and 4 of my nails had gel peeling off. The owner (I think) was trying to convince me that I needed a fill and that acrylic only lasts 1-1.5 weeks. Like? I’ve had my acrylic last 3 weeks on average. He was being mean because I didn’t know the exact “big red apple” red was used on me but the one he put on my nails without testing was like orange red… not the blood red that I had. He was saying that “color fades” when I literally just had a nail fixed 4 days before and the color difference was OBVIOUS. I told him that I think it was a certain number and he didn’t even get up to look. After that I asked if he could just take off all the color so it can be uniformed and he straight up told me it would be “too much work”. I told him “it’s fine. I’ll just finish my nails at home and change the color at home since I have my own drill and gel color to use”. I re-did my nails at home in 30 minutes and they look SLAY. also - when I got my fill a week and a half ago, there was NO APEX so that’s how my nail broke. I will not be back."
"I had a really wonderful experience with Steven and will definitely be back in a few weeks to change out my dip nails!"
"Blessed place to get your nails done! I got 2x’s nail dipped and lasting about 3-4 weeks depending on how fast your nails grow. Customer see is really helpful and feeling really cared for."
"I’ve been going to Soco for about a year now. It’s so tough finding a nail salon in a new city that does great designs for a reasonable price. I tried a bunch of salons… so let me save you some time. For the south and east side, this is the most competent, cleanest, cost effective place. You can usually walk in with fairly little wait. I usually just call ten minutes ahead when I’m on the way over and they get me in right away. Excellent shop with great technicians. They can do about a 7/10 difficulty with nail designs, depending on technician. Hope this saves y’all time!"
"I wish I could rate this place zero stars. PLEASE take your business elsewhere. A group of 5 of us booked mani-pedis for a bachelorette party. I got a normal mani/pedi and the other girls got gel and/or dip. First of all, the service was terrible, particularly from an employee who I believe is named Ming (it was written on my ticket). From the start, she was rude and had a terrible attitude. Anything you request is an inconvenience to her. For example, when she asked about drinks, I asked for white wine and a water, to which she replied, "You want two??" Guess that's not allowed! So I got a little less than half a glass of white wine. Another one of our girlfriends literally got 1/3 of a small plastic cup of white wine. "Ming" complained about having to get up to get my nail polish colors even though the nail polish wall literally tells you to take a photo of your color of choice rather than pulling the bottle. This woman definitely did not provide a quality hand/leg massage, and she did not set a timer for the timing of the massage which all other nail salons I've been to do, in order to guarantee you get the massage time you pay for. They were very short -- 1 min per limb maybe? Also, Ming was extremely rude. One of the women in our party is Vietnamese but she doesn't reveal that in nail salons so she can listen to what the employees say. This employee mocked a customer for being overweight, making a comment about what she could possibly eat to get that big, and also complained under her breath directly to my Vietnamese friend face about how dirty my friend was for putting her slippers on a chair and about why my friend couldn't decide on her own nail color after my friend asked for the employee's advice about what color to select. The quality of Ming's work is also no good. Uneven, smudged, and my nails weren't even buffed evenly so you can see lumps in the paint. My nail polish doesn't go to the end of the nail, the toes look matted, uneven, and smudged, and my Vietnamese friend's nail shapes/lengths are uneven! Ming wasn't the only employee who provided poor nail service quality. The bride is going to find another salon to redo her toes, and a couple of the girls (who have had dip nails many times before) are complaining about the salon's technique, as the dip is much thicker than usual and feels caked on the nails. One girl's gel toenails chipped about 2 hours later (after just walking around). I tipped 10% out of minimal courtesy but after our Vietnamese friend told us about Ming's horrible attitude and extremely unprofessional, inappropriate comments about customers, I wish I could've gone back in and tipped her NOTHING. The quality of work in itself did not merit a basic tip. On top of all of this, the services are SO overpriced. You can DEFINITELY find many other nail salons in Austin with lower prices and much higher quality work. And you won't have to sit there wondering if someone's gossiping about your body. The attached photos do not reflect how poor the quality of work is in real life."
