Reviews
"this is not a place for cooked Nigerian food. I don’t think this food is for humans to eat, looks like they expected dogs to eat this. The customer service is also VERY bad, there are so many other reviews like this but they don’t seem to care."
"I tried so hard to like it but they do such a poor job with cooking Nigerian food, I wonder who is cooking back there. Here’s what I got. Asun: 0/10 it was mostly bones, wonder when they started serving dogs ?(pictured) Jollof: 2/10 it was VERY hard and tasted stale. Looks like colored rice. Coconut rice: 1/10 it was basically white rice, I was so disappointed. It had NO flavor. Fried rice: 3/10 it had vegetables & that was about it. Hard rice with yellow color."
"The food is always consistantly good and the price is reasonable. I had fish and plantain. The bread is hot from the oven and is delicious. The bread is excellent! In this market you can buy cooked food and raw food. The customer Service is great."
"This is a ok store to go to buy hot foods, but be mindful when buying fresh meat from here ESPECIALLY goat meat. They freeze them to increase the weight and profit & during the holidays they’re even more frozen and heavier. 9ja ppl and 419 nawa for una. I just go to the halal meat market next door to them bcz they hv Good prices and honest business practices & esp for thanksgiving their fried turkeys durring the holidays are AMAZING. If any managers of southwest farmers market actually read these reviews, pls be more ethical in ur practices. Stop deep freezing goat meat to increase the weight and price on the scale! Also I ask that u stop homeless people from loitering around ur doors begging and harassing customers going in and out of ur establishment. At times there are 3 outside constituting a nuisance. I attached a pic of the alleged “cow tendon” I bought from farmers this Christmas against my better judgement. It was precut & frozen so I couldn’t readily identify it so I took their word for it. Boiled this mystery meat for almost 4 hours to get it to soften and it was still as tough as a car tire. Ended up trashing the entire amount thing before it ruined my soup & made me look bad to my guests. I hv no idea what this part of an animal this strange meat came from but this was no tendon! Ridiculous!"
"Grocery store specializes in selling African goods. Their products range from fresh produce to fully cooked meals. In my most recent visit I decided to get baked fish with rice. The food was actually tasted better than I remembered. I’m sure almost every Nigerian in Houston has been here at least one."
