"It was exactly what we expected-a weird museum. The self-guided tour leads you through three levels of interesting objects ranging from movie props to folklore to fossils and even human remains. The tour is very affordable and the gift shop has a neat variety of off-the-wall items to explore. We thought this place would be an interesting place to burn some time and see something you don’t see everyday and we were right. If you are in the neighborhood it’s worth stopping by."
"Kinda what you’d expect. Probably not worth the $12.99 admission. Credit card machine was broken, yet we still to wait for the employees to attempt to fix it (while passively arguing with one another), even though we told them we had cash. Restroom was out of order, so we had to rush through the last half because we had to pee really bad. I got two slivers, from the wooden door, in my hand as we left. Now that I think about it, they should have paid us $12.99 to visit."
"We aren't from Austin, and We wanted to find something fun to do. This place did not disappoint!!! We talked to a lot of People in the near by bars, and it was surprising how many have always wanted to go but have never been. This is a definite must see if You love "weird" stuff. And the gift shop is so cool! Probably not for young Kids, They might not be into a lot of it. But My Family absolutely loved it. What should have been a 20-30min tour, lasted over an hour. And We left with tons of unique items from the gift shop."
"What an amazing place... never a dull moment inside here and every nook and space had something cool to see and observe. A few interactive areas and the king Kong display to take pics was awesome. Could use some better lighting it was dark to view some of the displays and pictures needed a flash which wasn't cool for other people viewing too. Overall we had a blast and cool stories talking to the shop people about where the displays came from!"
"Awesome little place with cool history and pieces! Great exhibit of some really wonderful history covering the history of sideshows, and the birth of “oddities”. There’s some really gray pieces here worth seeing. The museum has some gorgeous pieces of work. Now an item of concern is the second floor two headed exhibit. It has the beginning of some small pest infestation that if not dealt with, will destroy the pieces in this area. This is an older building, with several small fights of stairs, so if you’re limited in mobility, you’ll only be able to access the first floor. The positive is they will discount the entrance fee if you are not able to traverse the stairs. I love the gift shop area, some great shirts and fun little items. I wish they carried some local artist pieces, but I understand they are limited on space. It could however take this location to the next level. I recommend this to see, for all ages, especially if you love classic horror, and sideshow history."
