"I love this store. And the deli food is awesome. And if you don't speak Spanish, don't let that stop you from going in. They will get you what you are. Looking for. Don't miss out."
"One week ago my wife went over to this store. Her car got hit in the parking lot and they took off. We went back to talk to the manager to see if they could pull up the video from the camaras in the parking lot, so we could file a police report. Joe was the manager on duty, he really didn't care about our situation and just said. " I will look at the videos later today and will give yall a call" We never heard back from him. We will never go back to shop in this place."
"Selection is still some of the best in the area, but they recently changed to a self-checkout system for people with less than 15 items, and in its present state, it is a disaster. This added to a cashier (Lane 4 @ 8 PM 11/1/23) who has trouble communicating with people and is incredibly slow. I waited in line for no lie, 30 minutes, and it was not like folks had a lot of groceries, half a cart, some just stuff on their hands, and still it took this man over 30 minutes until I gave up. I got out of the line, and in the line for the less than 15 items (self-checkout) and still managed to check myself out (with well over 15 items) faster than the lady that was ahead of me. That guy has to go, and management... if you see a line that is going all the way to the back of the store, it is time to relieve that cashier or give him some sort of assistance. And on a store that caters to 95% Hispanic, having a cashier who speaks very basic Spanish is not a great idea. Now, the self-check will work but you really need to do some interventions. 1) It should not accept cash. You see some construction fellow with money in every one of his pockets and coins, and he is trying to pay for his bolillos while trying to learn to use the system. 2) Remove the weight verification thing or do some updates. That is super annoying, they do that at CVS. It's inaccurate and not very intuitive. Or to a minimum have some sort of icon-driven signage that tells the user they must put the items on the bagging area to be able to scan the next item. 3) Don't rely so much on self-checkout. It is not a horrible idea, but the implementation is tricky. Realize you are not serving Walmart customers. You are dealing with a lot of recently migrated people for whom this type of technology is completely new. You are also dealing with a lot of cash customers, and also customers that pay with food stamp cards. It might be a win in the end, but you need to do an implementation analysis and fine-tune accordingly. Finally, you simply do not have the luxury of employing a cashier who does not speak Spanish. This is simply not optional."
"Just ok. Prices are higher than national chains, like Kroger, which have done a great job of providing the same international foods. However, El Rancho still has more specialty items and slightly better service which is why we still need grocery shopping options like El Rancho. Love the authentic Mexican feel of this place."
"Hmmm, what happened to Rancho supermercados? Going for cheap? I used to visit the “cocina” area for quality and quantity meals. Now there’s no quality and for sure there’s no quantity. They’ve changed everything, they used to have lots of choices at their display and served you right in front of you with plenty of food. Now the items are prepackaged and some of the food are low quality, such as dry rice that’s been in the container for idk how long. I’d rather look for another Mercado to do my compras and for “cocina” items I’ll be eating somewhere else for sure. Let us know when you bring back the regular meals with quality and quantity so we can come back again . . ."
