"（Friday，Sept 29) Expensive delivery charge but cannot unload. I ordered some square tubes flat bars and a heavy I-beam and asked them to do the delivery. Once the truck is here in front of my house I was told that they cannot unload the delivery. The driver did help me unload. They didn’t have the heavy I-beam this time. I was told the I-beam will be delivered next Wednesday. The interesting thing is that a manager from south austin metal called me and told me that I have to get ready to unload the 200 lb I-beam when their delivery truck is here. I am totally surprised. Just found out: my ordered 1”x1”x14ga square tubes are replaced with 1”x1”x11ga tubes and of course I was charged with more expansive ones. (Wednesday, Oct 11) Update: South Austin Metals first told me that they would deliver the I-beam last Wednesday. But they didn’t without calling me about the delay. The next day I called them and I was told that someone forgot to place the order, but it would be delivered last Friday. Of course it didn’t without any explanation. Today is Wednesday and the I-beam is still not delivered. I called the sales lady told me that someone told her the I-beam was already delivered. After clear out the confusion, they said can deliver it today. But they told me to be prepared to unload the material myself. I tried to add an 4”x4”x1/4” square tube to my order, and they gave me a quote that is about 20% more expensive a supplier nearby. I am so disappointed with this metal supplier. Therefore, I decided to cancel the I-beam that is still not delivered from my order. Now I am waiting for them to refund the money of the I-beam. I will update again. (Wednesday Oct 11) Update 2: they call me back and told me that they cannot refund me. But they told me that they deliver the I-beam to me today. Let’s hope I can receive my already purchased I-beam. (Monday, Oct 16) update 3: Still not delivered. (Friday, Oct 20) update 4: After calling the company about the delivery, the company finally agreed to finish their delivery. They called me before they went out for the delivery reminding me again that they will not unload the I beam according to the company’s rules. However, I was told that they would go extra to help me to unload. When the delivery truck arrived me and my neighbor got ready to unload the I beam. They rolled the I beam from the their truck to free fall on to my front yard lawn. It looked fine. Then we go it onto two those 4-wheel wood dollys. I should say that they did help me lift the I beam onto the dollys. Summary: the company charges $150 for a delivery of minimum order within about 10-15 miles. The biggest issue is that they do not unload the material they deliver for the customer. It would be a big hassle for customers. Another thing is that, it seems that they are extremely angry about this review on Google. First, delay repeatedly the delivery, and even refused to pick up my phone calls. Instead of explaining customers concerns they try to punish customers voice about their concerns. I really hope that the company take care of customers concerns and do business honestly.
