"This exceptionally fine shop also has Perla's Jewelry & Gifts inside, which are staffed equally fine personnel though I rarely do business with them. My main focus is having shoes/leather products repaired, recently putting new VIBRAM tread on my favorite sneakers (worn down from heavy use during my Fourth Annual First Quarter Odyssey: Tierra deal Fuego, 14JAN2020 - 07APR202 (COVID truncated to 16MAR2020). Cobbler-in-Chief JAVIER RODRIGUEZ (owner/operator) performed master work on what is his trade: shoe and boot repair. However, in the past he has made excellent work on non-traditional items for me, such as installing a durable zipper on a stout tool bag, which I carried stuffed full on my beloved Doublevision bike touring throughout 2-countries/8-states over an 18-yer period. Unfortunately, I have "aged out" and am no longer able to pedal that tandem recumbent, which I have since replaced with an eBikeKit-assisted CruzBike. But that hasn't stopped my calling upon Javier to use his heavy needle/coarse thread for future unique tasks. Specifically, when I took a short overnight bike tour to super San Elizario (30miles/48kms SW of El Paso), my year-old panniers revealed elements which need to be added-to/upgraded which will improve my bike touring ability by making them easier to attach to the rear rack. I provided the straps/latches/hooks which will significantly increased the versatility, but require his skill & tools to make it permanent and uniform. Javier is in his shop Tuesday through Saturday, very responsive to requests, advise/suggest alternatives, is operates on a "cash only" basis. In the decades I've known him, he has proven to be extremely reliable and professional. I enthusiastically give him/Texas Boot & Shoe my coveted "iWheel of Approval!""
