"Overall the salon is pretty cool with good vibes, laughter and the sounds of happy people sharing stories and talking food (I learned a lot!). I imagine that this vibe is supported by the amazing concept of an intentionally designed space, prioritizing the health and wellbeing of the Strange Bird team and its clients with a clean, chemical free environment!!! This is my second time getting my hair cut with Haley and I feel truly grateful to her and so glad that I combed through reviews for a few weeks and found her through them last year. Being a person with curly hair, I have worked with many of Austin’s ‘curly hairstylists’ and I can say that Haley is the one!!! She has a gentle calm friendly persona and it’s easy to relax into the process and flow trusting you will leave with a carefully crafted head of hairs. Last time I came in for a curly shag and it got me into a cycle of compliments and sharing about Haley, passing along her info…the shag was exactly what I had hoped for and it grew out well, keeping a good shape. It is important to note that not only was I happy leaving the salon, for the first few days of the cut but beyond that with every day wear and styling!! I feel like this is rare, and having a cut that does itself everyday is perfect for me as someone who prefers minimal maintenance (just a spritz of a water bottle). This time I came in with a different and specific vision: a vintage Bettie page with wavy curls cut and Haley nailed it! She even used a thoughtful technique to deal with my constant cowlick (why my Bettie bangs had previously always ended up imperfect!). She talked me through the health of my hair and ideas around this and some creative ideas for the transition to growing out grays gracefully. I thoroughly recommend her and triple that if you have wavy or curly hair!!! Thank you Haley!!!"

I booked a new client appointment with Ruby, and I had a truly wonderful experience! They were so nice and made me feel comfortable and confident. I really appreciated the thorough consultation and the styling tips. They took the time to explain what they were doing and why. The really nice thing is that my hair looks good even without styling. I've never had this high quality of a cut before and have just been blown away. I left feeling like a million bucks and have had so much fun playing with my hair. "I’ve never had an experience like this at a hair salon. It was an empowering experience and I absolutely LOVED Kascidy. She educated me about my hair and helped me understand what to do to it. She did exactly what I had hoped she would when I described what I was looking for. And because I’m a sucker for details, it also helped that the atmosphere was gorgeous - so many cool plants, intentional aesthetics, wonderful customer service and experience. 10 stars!"
