Longhorn Dental

"It’s truly saddening for me to post this, as I’ve been going here since I was in elementary school. But I feel the need to prevent my situation from happening again. First, I’ll say that Ken Ellis has sold the practice. So if you’re expecting things to be primarily taken care of by him, it is not him. The new lead dentist is Taylor Nguyen. I went for a routine checkup in November and they discovered that a previous filling had been cracked, causing a cavity to form. After X-rays they determined that I needed a crown, and did that process that day By Dr. Ellis (he was in office). This cost me a little over 1k without health insurance. For the next several weeks I was back and forth getting the crown adjusted because the bite did not align, and I could not chew. On the last adjustment I mentioned pain as well, so they xrayed me again and even though the hygienist hesitated to say the xray was fine, Dr. Ellis adjusted the crown and sent me home. The pain since that week has gotten worse and worse, so I called last week to ask what could be done. It was then that I was informed that I would “probably need a root canal, because not all of the cavity was cleared.” In order to get this done, they want to charge almost $400 for X-rays (again) before they “decide”, and upwards of 1-2k for a root canal since I do not have dental insurance. All of this pain and expense was caused by someone not performing a root canal from the very beginning, and could have been prevented. I feel like I’m being squeezed for money with this second procedure in a little over a month, and I have not been treated properly due to what has happened. I have been in pain, and unable to chew on the right side of my mouth since early NOVEMBER. Please save your time, money, and emotional bandwidth and go somewhere who cares about their patients more than their profit."

"I needed an emergency dental appointment on a business trip to Houston. I was referred to Longhorn by an existing patient. When I called, the staff found a way to fit me in that afternoon. Upon arrival, everyone was super nice and very kind. I got a full set of x-rays (and the offered to send so I could give to my dentist at home). Dr. Nguyen handled my filling quickly, efficiently, and without any pain. If I didn’t live in Dallas, this would be my dentist. Thank you all so much for your kindness and expertise!!"

"Dr. Ellis sold the practice in December. The new owners are NOT communicating that to the clients and being transparent. Many have shown up to find out. I happen to find out when I called to move my appointment. Very bad form on the new owners to try to keep it secret. If you were going here for Dr. Ken Ellis, he is gone!"

The staff is so friendly and so polite, and the dentist there are just highly gifted and know what they're doing.
