"Dentist is fine, but had issues with the office manager. Was told my daughter needed 3 fillings a total with insurance about $450. Called my insurance company while on the phone the insurance company called St Clair and left a detailed message because they were overcharging me. I called about a week later to get an update. I was told by the receptionist the office manager is waiting for a call back from our insurance company. Why not call them again? I waited several more days and decided to see another dentist. Called St Clair to send my daughters xrays to the other dentist. Receptionist told me I would need to sign a form then from there it would take up to 14 days for the office manager to email the dentist the xrays. Yet my previous dentist sent them to St Clair the same day the new dentist sends them same day also without filling a form out. Also the new dentist running same ins cost $138 total for 3 fillings instead of $450 at St Clair. Something is wrong here. For all the inconveniences with the office manager they have lost 4 customers. She also argued with me about my primary insurance being my health insurance for Federal insurance. No dental office for 19 yrs on a federal insurance has ever asked for my health insurance only my dental even with the new dentist."
"This place is the reason I ended up with periodontal disease. I saw the dentist every six months while I was a teenager through early adulthood. She never measured my gum pockets nor did anything when I expressed concern about my bleeding gums. She failed to accurately treat me during routine cleanings, so my gingivitis escalated to periodontal disease. It wasn’t until I switched to a new dentist that they checked the measurements of my gum pockets and I discovered I had periodontal disease that required a deep cleaning. If the dentist here had done her job properly, I would not be stuck with a lifelong condition that requires constant maintenance. Gingivitis was reversible. Periodontal disease is not and requires cleanings every three months. Do not trust this place with your oral health!"
"Interesting to read the previous reviews. Seems to be a consensus on the unprofessional behavior of the front office lady. It is unfortunate that we really like Dr. Karl, but one particular woman managing her office has ruined it for my family. I will never go back. I have had very few pleasant encounters with "Cindy" as she is rude and unprofessional. A recent appointment for my son was scheduled, assuming it was just an inconvenient time for their office, I was asked several questions in regards to covid. I was told my 18 year old son, who got a job out of town for the summer in a different county would not be allowed to be seen unless he remained in the county for 10 days, losing work, unless he was able to produce covid vaccine proof. I then asked if they saw ANY other patients that work outside Hood county or travel to Parker or Tarrant. Her answer was it's up to the doctor"s discretion, which she reported she spoke with the doctor, and the doctor said no. I then asked her what guidelines they were following, was it Texas Dental Board, CDC or who and would she please provide me a copy of the guidelines they are following. I was told they do not have a copy of what they are going by, and I could "look it up". Mind you this is the middle of June, covid cases are the lowest they have been since this mess started, and did I mention the last time we were in in May we didn't even have to wear masks and these same questions were not asked of us? After further pushing of what guidelines their office is following, she directs me to a SUGGESTED screening tool off of the American Dental Association website to which the question reads, have you traveled in the last 14 days....upon further reading, it refers to international travel, which I completely understand. I also called many other dentists to ask their protocol for outside of the "county" travel and they report they have never heard of such guideline. So I proceeded to confirm the fact that if my son wanted his crown placed, a crown already payed for, he would have to miss 10 days of work before coming into the office, missing work at a new job. The answer was yes, so I asked how will you know if he stayed in the county? (also curious how they know others have not left the county) She says, we will ask. Alrighty then....so we got the crown two weeks later, my son was "in the county" for the last 10 days, didn't miss any work and we will never be back. So how did that screening tool work out for you? Point is, it was arbitrary because I questioned it. If you want to set different guidelines for your practice, at least have the guts to say it's the doctors personal guidelines, but don't lie and say you are following requirements set by the state. Also, you better check your bills against the EOB of your insurance...office manager will state porcelain crown is not covered by insurance and make you pay more only to find out your insurance actually DOES cover it. I waited for 5 months for a refund after being offered a "credit" I refused to take. Something shady going on with this office Manager."
"I had an appointment scheduled for this morning at 11:50. I arrived to the parking lot at 11:15, but my daughter was sleeping, so I waited in the car until 11:35 and then went in. The woman at the reception desk told me that my appointment was at 11:20 and I could not be seen today. There was only one other patient in the office, but she insisted there was no way that I could be seen today. I had recieved a business card from my last appointment that clearly stated 11:50. The woman said I should have known the appointment time because she spoke with me yesterday on the phone to confirm the appointment. I never received a call from anyone at St. Clair dental yesterday. I never recieved any confirmation calls or emails as I normally do. The woman then asked me if I recieved the paperwork in the mail that she had sent. I never recieved anything in the mail either. This woman was very rude and unprofessional in the way she spoke. She stated "I called you yesterday and discussed the appointment time, it's not my fault that you forgot" when I NEVER received a call. The last time I was in I had to argue with a different lady at the reception desk about giving me whitening gel for the teeth whitening club. She stated that I received the gel at my last visit (which I did not) and could not have any more. I have children, and live 30 minutes from the office, so driving all the way to Acton is an ordeal. I have always liked Dr. Karl, but the front staff has been awful, rude, and unprofessional the last few times I was in. I have been going here for a few years, but Dr. Karl just lost a very loyal patient. I should not have to fight and argue with the rude, incompetent staff every time I'm in the office. If you choose to go here, expect to possibly be spoken down to, belittled in front of other patients, and have your appointment time changed unexpectedly."
"I called to discuss scheduling a procedure and spoke to Dr St Clair directly who was extremely polite and professional. I cannot say the same for her staff who answers the phones, though. Multiple people in my family were treated disrespectfully and talked down to. When I called to talk to Dr St Clair about the issue, I was greeted by the same hateful person who, after telling me the Dr was gone for the day and realizing who I was, tried to make excuses for her behavior and push the blame elsewhere. When I told her that I wouldn't be scheduling anything else until I spoke with the Doctor directly she became even more rude and irate and behaved absolutely childish. She actually began asking why I would need to talk to her at all because it would be completely unnecessary. I was then hung up on. I truly hope Dr St Clair can find better staff who can replicate her professionalism and customer service."
