HUG BBQ

"I was gifted with a 3 meat bbq plate for Valentine's from a friend. Her initial review of the restaurant was superb. I was excited to give it a try. Customer service was excellent. My order was prepared fairly quickly. They did a good job with decor. There were quite a few people dining in. While I waited additional customers came and dined in or picked up carry out. The traffic made me extra optimistic. I ordered ribs, moist brisket and beef sausage. I ordered macaroni and cheese with baked beans for sides. I added a slice of strawberry cake to my meal for my daughter. It was quite a bit of food and cost right at $40. I hadn't eaten and I was really hungry. I plated a bit of everything as included in my photos. The sides were meh. The macaroni lacked flavor and the baked beans were sweet. The beans were sweet but otherwise lacked any detectable seasoning. I wished I had ordered pork sausage because the beef wasn't it for me. The brisket was partially moist and dry. The ribs were underwhelming. Maybe trying a restaurant on a holiday wasn't the best idea. Or maybe I'm just not the target demographic. I wanted to taste sautéed onions and bell peppers with bbq sauce and seasoning in the beans as well as creamy Mac and cheese. I wish them the best and hope they continue to reach their target audience."

"Delicious! So glad they chose Lancaster and the food just gets better and better. The ribs fall off the bone and are so juicy and seasoned well. The chicken is perfectly smoked and that sausage compliments everything. Sooo good!!!"

"Y'all, this place is a hidden gem! Not sure how long it's been around, but I've been missing something special for the past five years that I've lived in this area. Don't miss the brisket - it's Texas BBQ at its finest. Sides were all fantastic. We had the collard greens, coleslaw, and elotes! And my smoked turkey leg fell off the bone like any good turkey leg should! Sauces were both excellent, but I'm all about that spicy sauce. Well done, HUG! See you again soon."

"I stumbled upon this little hidden jewel one rainy cold Wednesday evening craving a good Ole chopped beef sandwich! And boy am I happy I did. I have been back two more times since! And on my last visit, due to an error, I was blessed with two free loaded baked potatoes by the restaurants owner. Lucky me If you haven't been to HUG (Holder Under God) BBQ...you're missing out."

"We wanted to try some bbq from a new location. We had this on the list & decided to give them a try. The service was really nice & they explained the menus options. They use real wood & you can smell & taste the difference. The Star of the meal was definitely the beef rib!!! It was so tender & great tasting. You can see the smoke rings on your meat. They make their own bbq sauce. You can select regular & spicy. It has a really good taste with a hint of ancho chili pepper. Whatever you get you can be sure that it'll be right. They're our new go to spot from here on out! Please give this place a try because you won't be disappointed."
