"Do not hire this man. I hired him about 5 years ago to build a large deck. He failed to get a permit which resulted in me receiving a stop work order and a $500 fine before the deck was completed. The deck was supposed to be built so that it was structurally sound enough to add a roof in the future. In attempting to add the new roof this summer I discovered that he never had the deck inspected and therefore never closed the permit - even though he told me that the inspector signed off on everything. When I had the inspector come look at the deck I was informed that the deck is not built to code. The joists are undersized, there are not enough support posts, the ledger board is improperly attached to the house and there is no weatherproofing against the house. I am now forced to completely rip apart and rebuild a deck that is only 5 years old."
