"I must have caught them a bad day. The restaurant itself is very picturesque and lively. The menu had plenty favorites to choose from, several people celebrating birthdays there and our server was great. Unfortunately, it seemed that they were out of the things that you would expect a restaurant not to be out of. No straws, no spoons, etc.. that’s just how it goes sometimes but I will definitely visit them again the next time I’m in San Marcos."
"Menu has changed. Love bringing my family here from out of state. Never disappoints! The atmosphere is great, sit on the patio if you can, views of the river are nice and having a breeze is great."
"♥️ love this place, actually beautiful overlooking the river. I had the chicken-chicken fried steak, so moist on the inside and crispy on the outside - perfect. I loved the garlic mash potatoes and the green beans with garlic. I had the sweetest server, Ruby. I appreciated her checking on me often. I will definitely be coming back."
"With a perfect location overlooking the beautiful San Marcos River, Ivar’s is one of my favorite places. I always tell myself I’m going to get something new, but I just can’t resist the fantastic brisket nachos! The beer is good and cold and reasonably priced, especially during happy hour. This town around, we got two desserts — the Pecan Pie Bread Pudding and the Molten Lace Chocolate Cake — and they were both terrific!"
"The pork belly Burt ends were amazing! My waitress was also amazing. I liked being able to sit outside and see all of the people out there in the water tubing. It’s a good place to go have a drink and eat some good food."
