"Great cafe in the heart of Houston that has stood the test of time! The service is phenomenal! Waitstaff is attentive, prompt and very personable. Excellent people. Food is solid. They don’t get crazy with seasonings but make it very tasty. Both of us in my party had burgers and the bread was soft and fresh. Fries were crispy and seasoned well. Only one knock and that was the fried pickles could have been cooked just a bit longer. Aside from that it’s fantastic!"
"If you are looking for a good, old-fashioned hamburger, consider your search done! Lankford's is a hidden jewel. No nonsense, come as you are kinda place. Limited indoor seating and nice outdoor seating, parking is limited. I had the bacon cheeseburger, mayo, mustard, lettuce, tomato, and no pickle. Side of fries. The wife had the old-fashioned hamburger with side of onion rings. Burgers arrive individually wrapped in foil, so when you open it, nice and warm. Good grade of meat, cooked with a hint of pink but not greasy or drippy. Bacon cooked but not cruncy dry. Soft bun and fresh veggies close out the package, with a delightful bite every time. Fries appeared to be undercooked, but after tasting them, it was just an illusion. Crisp and salted, hand cut and plentiful. Onion rings are large, thick, and cooked in a delicious batter, again, plenty in a basket. Great staff, upbeat, local atmosphere, great place to meet with friends and just enjoy a good time. I didn't make it to dessert, but the peach cobbler with ice cream looked FANTASTIC! So, go ahead and treat yourself!"
"Super charming old school joint lost in time. The staff is really friendly, and the portions are huge. Prices are extremely favorable on food and drink for the sizes you get. Regrettably, the burger was rather subpar. The patty tasted like it was thawed chuck cooked on a griddle with no lid covering to keep the moisture in. Bland and very dry. The fried egg on the burger was way over. Ideal for me would be a little jammy. Expectation would be runny yolk. It was actually cooked entirely through. I found it a bit of a struggle to finish. A little work on execution would make this a place I would frequent. +1 star on the burgers for lots of variety"
"Fun little burger joint in the middle of town. It's held onto its old school charm even as all the condos and apartments around it have been modernized. Burgers are pretty good with combos you normally wouldn't find. The one with Mac and cheese is surprisingly good and the brisket burger is VERY filling. Southwest burger is also good. For me the most "boring" burger was the double cheeseburger, it just tasted a little plain compared to other burgers I've had."
"Mom and pop vibe Burger place in midtown. The customer service provided makes you feel as though you are a guest at their house. The onion rings are my favorite and some of the best onion rings in Houston. Sweet potato fries are delicious and dashed with the right amount of salt. The bacon burger was good, but I ordered a medium well burger and in my opinion the meat was cooked almost well done."
