"I recently dined at Captain Tom’s, situated at 20525 Katy Fwy, Katy, TX, and it was a delightful experience. The standout dish for me was the oysters on the half shell. They were incredibly fresh, with a clean, briny taste that only the finest seafood can offer. Each oyster was expertly shucked and presented, making it not just a dish but an experience to savor. The gumbo soup was another highlight. It was rich, flavorful, and packed with the right amount of spice, reminding me of the authentic Southern comfort food. The depth of flavors in the gumbo was impressive, indicating skilled preparation and quality ingredients. Every item I ordered was delicious, demonstrating consistency and culinary expertise. From the starters to the main courses, each dish was a testament to the quality and freshness Captain Tom’s is committed to. The ambiance of the restaurant added to the experience, with a nautical theme that perfectly complements the seafood fare. The staff were friendly and attentive, enhancing the overall dining experience with their excellent service. For anyone in the Katy area looking for top-notch seafood, Captain Tom’s is a must-visit. Their dedication to serving fresh, delicious seafood in a warm and inviting setting makes for a memorable dining experience. Highly recommended for seafood lovers!"
"I went to this restaurant twice on my two-day trip in Houston. The seafood is really fresh and the price is really good. I will definitely go there again the next time I visit Texas for the high quality seafood. The first time I went there, I ordered the seafood platter. The server helped me substitute the fresh oysters and boiled shrimps for the fried ones. The oysters are big and fresh. The boiled shrimps are solid. I also loved their special tomato sauce, which had a sweet and sour flavor. It was not too strong, so it could bring out the freshness of the seafood. The fried catfishes and stuffed crab are crispy and hot. The thickness of the catfish was perfect, which created a great balance between the meat and the crispy outer layer. The stuffed crab was astonishing. The stuffing inside is composed of crab meat and small shrimps. I loved it a lot. The second time, I ordered six halfshell oysters and a cup of gumbo soup. The oysters were as good as the last time I had them. Since two of the oysters were small, I was served with an extra one. The gumbo soup was really good. It had crab meat and shrimp. I could taste the freshness of seafood in the soup. The soup also had some rice, which made it like a porridge. I liked it a lot. For me, I had a great time there. Also, the wait time was not bad. I went during dinner hours both times and I did not wait long (10 minutes max)."
"Katy Freeway sunset, salty breeze, and Captain Tom's calling - the perfect recipe for a happy hour with my cousins. We bellied up to the bar, the air thick with the aroma of fried seafood and clinking glasses. The past holiday's stress melted away as we ordered Micheladas, frosty giants brimming with tangy lime and a secret spice blend. But these weren't your ordinary Micheladas, oh no. Captain Tom's secret weapon? A plump raw oyster nestled snugly on the rim, adding a briny, ocean-fresh kick to every sip. It was a revelation, a delightful surprise that had us grinning ear to ear. Next up, we dove into a platter of Gulf Oysters, plump and glistening under the bar lights. Each one, a perfect bite of briny sweetness, slid down effortlessly, leaving trails of oyster bliss in their wake. We slurped, savored, and swapped stories, the clinking of shells. The service was top-notch, friendly and attentive. It was the perfect end to a busy day, a chance to unwind with family, good food, and a touch of nautical charm."
"Loved this place so much I ate it two nights in a row! Food for me is sometimes much less about ambiance and more about quality and value. Captain Tom's is very small, charming, and lively. ...a true oyster bar. A dozen fresh was just $15.95 and they do have happy hour where they are cheaper. Seating is around the serving area. Small place. People sit elbow to elbow enjoying a great value, seafood meal. Loads of options, really good pricing, and cold beer! This place ranks very high on my list. Such a simple place but great food at reasonable prices. The staff is very friendly and accommodating too. If its about the food and a good experience, you have to check this basic but fantastic place out!"
"Best oysters and best michelada in TEXAS! Must try! Take my word you will not be disappointed. Mostly Spanish speaking establishment but you will be ok. Fried foods mainly but gumbo is awesome. This place gets packed so avoid rush hours like lunch hour."
