Beef and Bun BBQ

"Has been decades since I've eaten at Beef & Bun on W Fuqua in Houston. Used to eat lunch there frequently in the 80s thru 90s. The food was great back then. Today, the BBQ sauce was horrible like it was watered down tomato sauce, no bbq smoke, seasoning or flavor to it. It's almost like sauce you would have on Meatloaf. So very disappointed does not even come close. No flavor to any of the meat: brisket, ribs or sausage. The Lima beans looked good but very salty with no other flavor. Staff was not too friendly."

"Food and portions were not as great as I've heard/or anticipated. Potato was large but my tops and meat portion were lacking. Love supporting small business' but also love great food, this wasn't memorable."

"Overall a good experience. The tea was good, the brisket was soft. The sausage and BBQ sauce were ok. The punch is super sweet and not for my liking, but many customers loved it. Would definitely come back and eat again here. There's plenty of seating so it never felt crowded. A lot of the interior design seemed outdated but it kind of gave an authentic vibe to the environment. Kind staff as well."

"The service was good and the food averaged out to four stars. You get a lot of value here. I ordered the rib plate with onion rings and my plate showed up at the counter with about 5 ribs on it for $11.19, ribs were good and the onion rings were even better. My wife got the chicken fried steak with one vegetable and a salad for $8.80, the chicken fried was very good as well as the salad, she picked lima beans as her veggie and they were a little bitter. They have iced tea which was good, sweet and unsweet, Delaware punch was also an option they've been serving since the 60's. We'll be back to try more goodies, I enjoyed a piece of sweet potato pie for a reasonable price."

"I’ve been coming here since I was little, the baked potatoes with chopped beef are always amazing. The baked beans are really good as well. Today I tried something new and got onion rings, I will never be getting those again. Everything else was good tho, love this place."
