Reviews
"Stumbled into this place while on our short trip to San Antonio - we haven’t been able to stop raving about it! I mean the bread, appetizers, the meat, and Ester’s service was superb! Best “higher end” meal we’ve had all month."
"We were staying at the hotel and decided to give this place a try since it had decent reviews. It was incredibly disappointing. The atmosphere was stuffy at best and the service was bizarre. We had an expensive meal, and even bought a bottle of champagne, but the staff (except John) was incredibly inhospitable. They were inattentive and rude. We bought the same bottle of champagne at Biga (a restaurant not far away) the day before. It cost a few dollars more, but we didn’t have to ask for the bottle to be opened, and we never had to refill our own glasses. One server seemed to enjoy being condescending - he actually asked after the bottle had been on ice for a long while and we requested it be opened - if I wanted to be like Jackie O and put ice in my glass!!! “That was a thing in the ‘70s”. On top of everything, the food was average at best. The $140 tomahawk steak was cooked well not medium, and the server didn’t even explain what the 4 sauces served with it were. The paella was better than the steak but nothing special. Overall, as I said before, very disappointing."
"We struggled to find this place as there is no sign on the street and is part of the Valencia Hotel. The very classy decor made us feel under-dressed until we noticed our server, Antonio, wearing jeans behind his long apron. Antonio was a gracious and welcoming server, and we found a few items in our price range: paella and chicken breast. Both came with veggies and were prepared nicely. A memorable experience."
"Stopped by for lunch on a whim. I wish I would’ve made a better choice… By no means is review indicative of bad service provided by the waitress/bartender. She was perfectly fine. But it’s hard to say anything positive about a place that would serve raw chicken. I was extremely disappointed in my experience overall. Atmosphere was lackluster."
"Passed this place a ton of times but never made it in. Today they had their sign and Paella was back. I’m so upset that I’ve been missing out on this place for so long. It’s build your own paella. From walking into the front entrance to the chef and server, service was fantastic. Nothing fake, nothing forced, just pure good hospitality. I work down the street and this place was open for lunch and the prices are more than reasonable. Portion size was great and the flavor was so delicious. Definitely will be coming back with friends and family. The atmosphere is very light, great music, the decor and space to eat is wonderful as well. I did sit indoor but if you’d like some fresh air, there is outdoor seating available. I had chicken shrimp sausage paella and all the flavors were there. The rice was cooked correctly and everything mixed very well. The chef was friendly, informative, and quick with the order. Overall 10/10 in my books"
