"As I walked in I went straight to the bathroom as my family waited, so I don't know how the greeting/welcome was, and as I came out we were seated. When asked what we would like to drink order for 2 cokes and 2 waters was made. 3 Mexican cokes and a water came out. I do like Mexican coke so I did not refuse. When food was ordered, my mom asked for just a puffy taco and I asked for a mole enchiladas plate. When food came out I had a regular enchiladas plate and my mom received a puffy taco plate. I was hungry and mole or not it was the same price so again I didn't say anything. My mom asked for correction of her plate, just the puffy taco as she would not eat all the food nor did we want to pay for food that would not be eaten and was not ordered. The plate was taken, and the single taco was brought back. The food was very good. Chicken quesadilla, a puffy taco, enchiladas, and asada mini tacos ordered and the only food complaint was the onions on the tacos were half cooked, half raw. Paid the check and left. Upon leaving Mom reminded me about the puffy taco and now looking at the menu, it seems that I was still charged for a full puffy taco plate. Normally I would give a break for mistakes but the restaurant was empty, and there was no music playing. If you want good food, this place has it, but word of advice. Double check your order, and double check your bill."
"Last night, thanks to a rec from the big SA Facebook restaurant group, my Pops and I tried this place, instead of going to the same spot we always go, and although I hesitate to say this having been just once, I feel like I may have eaten the perfect San-Antonio-style Tex Mex cheese enchiladas… I live in Mexico City, where the enchiladas are folded, not rolled, and the sauces are usually either mole or verde, and the cheese is white and never melts correctly… so, I really, really miss a proper San Antonio cheese enchilada, and these babies tasted like I have always wished Blanco Cafe’s cheese enchiladas tasted (I consider BC to be a bit of a SA standard, even though I have only ever actually loved the flavor of their flour tortillas and their table red salsa, I feel they are representative of the SA cheese enchilada style)… For starters, the tortillas were red corn, made in house, pillowy soft, properly sauced without being oversauced, smeared with the perfect amount of chili con carne, then covered with shredded cheddar and popped in the broiler to get the cheese melted and slightly crispy, and they understood that the cheese on the inside should be a blend of shredded cheddar and shredded American, as only cheddar produces greasiness and stringiness, while only American results in a lack of cheesiness, whereas the combination produces the perfect balance of flavor and creaminess… The rest of the meal was a little mixed… the puffy taco, meh, take it or leave it (the picadillo was bland- not bad, but a long way from memorable), the red table salsa was watery (although their salsa de árbol and salsa verde, which they were happy to bring out upon request and without extra charge, were both quite tasty), but their rice and beans were on point, almost as good as those cheese enchiladas that will be dancing very merrily in all of my very dirtiest dreams once I return to Mexico City… Anyway, I wanted to give everyone who hasn’t been a head’s up, and I wanted to try to help this recently-opened small family business, as the service was nearly as friendly as the cheese enchiladas were incredible… $9.99 for 3 perfect cheese enchiladas (10/10), a puffy taco (6.5/10), with rice and beans (9/10), and fresh tortillas (9/10)… go give them a shot- I feel nearly certain you’ll be very happy if you do!!"
"My husband ordered the cheese enchiladas and I ordered the mole enchiladas. So good! The flavor of the mole was great + rice and beans tasted like my abuelitas. Also, the salsas are GOOD! Home made flavors, small and cozy atmosphere. Will definitely come back and try the mini tacos :)"
"Karen the owner greeted us in, had such great customer service & made our experience a great one. As if the service wasn’t great enough, our food made it even better. Affordable prices, & everything was fresh & nicely seasoned! Karen brought us out a sample of their pastor & that was also so delicious! The environment was cozy & welcoming. Definitely recommend & will make another visit next time we’re in San Antonio!"
