Reviews
"Short but informative tour of the first floor of the house. The docents are clearly passionate about the (in)famous house, and the building has been incredibly well maintained. I am still thinking about the gigantic and gorgeous pocket doors. Would absolutely love to see the kitchen and second floor!"
"Money well spent when touring the Mercer-Williams House. Want disappoint! Great staff! Join HUGHES TV YouTube for a look at some of the stories surrounding the Mercer-Williams House and the famous book and movie Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil."
"Very interesting, short tour. Only 35 minutes long and only of the garden & the rooms on the first floor. But very excellent guide who could answer any question about any of the architectural features and the wonderful antiques. Well versed in the lives of the Williams family and their history. Well worth taking your time to do while in Savannah. Only exterior photos posted here because they do not allow pictures to be taken inside the house or garden."
"The Mercer-Williams House Museum made famous by the book "Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil," is a lovely home designed by a NY architect and completed in 1868. Sadly, no one from the Mercer family ever lived there; however, Jim Williams purchased the home in 1969 and began a two-year restoration. The Williams family still owns the home and live there. The incredible first floor and garden are open to the public for tours; however, photos are prohibited. Most of the furniture and art were part of Williams' private collection. He was a master restorer and is credited with saving more than 50 houses in the area."
"Thank you Zack for a great tour! This is a beautiful home filled with amazing art and antiquities and a rich history behind the sorties of this home. Mr. Williams leaves quite a legacy to the people of Savannah!"
