Bank of Everglades Building
About the Business
The Bank of Everglades Building, located at 201 Broadway Avenue West in Ochopee, Florida, is a historic landmark that has played a significant role in the history of Collier County. The Everglades Society for Historic Preservation (ESHP) is dedicated to preserving this iconic building and raising awareness of its importance.
Built in 1927 for Barron Gift Collier, the Bank of Everglades building has a rich history that spans decades. From housing the bank itself to serving as a rooming house, newspaper office, and bed & breakfast, the building has seen many changes over the years.
Unfortunately, the building has suffered damage from Hurricane Irma and erosion, but there is hope for its restoration. The ESHP is working on comprehensive plans to renovate the building and turn it into the permanent location for the Everglades Area Visitor Center.
By supporting the preservation efforts of the ESHP, you can help ensure that the Bank of Everglades Building remains a cherished piece of history for future generations to enjoy. Every contribution, no matter how small, makes a difference in our mission to save this historic landmark.
