"Very great history lesson! The lady at the reception was more than kind to give me a fantastic guided tour. She did not have to do that but was most gracious to help! Thank you very, very much. Their local artist and tee shirt creator was also very cool to give me history lesson and share his life's philosophy, and share creative ideas. I highly highly recommend this place if you want to learn about what it was like to be in the South during the segregation era. If you saw the fantastic movie called the Green Book, you need to visit because you want to open your mind and open your door to curiosity!!! Thank you for your time and the lessons!!!"
"I went to the wells'built museum with my wife for her college culture paper. I was expecting to see a few exhibitions with a little info on the side of each. Instead, I was met with a beautiful museum, with a wide range of carefully curated amazing exhibits all brought to life by the incredibly charismatic and welcoming host. Her enthusiasm and knowledge regarding the museum, along with her own story made this trip an incredible and unique experience. I highly recommend this to anyone that is interested in local history or simply wishes to help a small museum I could not recommend this museum enough. Between the great experience and astonishingly low prices there is no reason not to go. To anyone that wishes to go please note there is also parking in the back."
"What a gem ! So much history packed into this landmark. So much was learned, seen and answered. Thank you so the very nice woman who took us down memory lane. Definitely somewhere I’ll be sharing & encouraging others to visit. We will be returning in the near future & would love to be a part of or attend any future events. $3-5 entry (student/adults). It’s a little toasty inside (temporarily) but it’s feasible & worth it for the amount of knowledge gained"
"I love the dedication to the collection of African American history with donations from personal collections.... I spent an hour just reading... The ONLY reason they didn't get the last star was because the ac wasn't working. That poor woman in there all day while waiting for renovations to start. She was very knowledgeable and considerate. Be considerate, buy a mini split and place it near the front door for her..... especially since you don't know when the renovations will start...."
"My family and I were in Florida on vacation and seeking a Juneteenth family activity. Although Disney was on our list, we wanted something new and educational as well. I found Wells'Built Museum while searching online and thought it would be a great experience. We were not disappointed! The history of the hotel and the collection of artifacts are very interesting and the kind lady who is running the museum and giving mini tours is extremely friendly and knowledgeable about southern Black history and how it ties together in Orlando. Wells'Built Museum is definitely a hidden gem and I would love to see local churches, non profits, and the community get more involved to see it continue to grow, be able to hire more researchers who can organize, label and give even more info on the artifacts and have more resources and fix basic needs like the air conditioning and share the importance of this museum with local youth and future tourists like ourselves! The experience was great for me as a millennial with a multigenerational group including Gen Z, Baby Boomers and a Silent Generation matriarch. We all enjoyed the museum and displays! Keep up the great work Wells'Built!"
