"I scheduled an appointment with Dr. Jean Mbassi for a physical. This was my first time meeting him. It ended up being the worst experience I have ever had in a health care setting. Upon entering the room, he asked me to pronounce my last name multiple times, and asked where the name originated. He seemed extremely annoyed when I didn’t have an answer for him. He started with the generic questions and then asked about my previous health history and my current medications. I was asked multiple times to explain why my previous doctors prescribed me the medications they did. After explaining my medication history, he said he didn’t understand why someone would put me on the medications they did. I told him (which he can clearly see in my charts) that many of the medications didn’t work or were counteractive so I ended up trying multiple anti-depressants over the course of a few years. I then stated that the psychiatrist I was seeing had recently moved and I no longer was seeing her. I told him I scheduled an appointment with him in hopes of gaining a primary provider. I then stated that I was currently out of one of my medications and had about a week left of my other medication. He responded with, “you know you can’t just stop taking these medications.” I responded, “Yes I am aware. Unfortunately this has happened before and I ended up self admitting to the stress center.” He asked if I would sign a release so that he could see notes from the psychiatrist. I told him absolutely I would. He then continued by saying “you need to contact your psychiatrist in order to receive refills of your medications because I will not refill them.” My respnse, “I just told you I no longer have contact with my psychiatrist. She is no longer at her practice and I have no idea where she went. You also just told me that suddenly stopping these medications is not good. Now you’re telling me you will not help me and you have not shared any explanation as to why” Mind you I am in tears at this point. “I am here begging for help and you’re simply telling me there is nothing you can do for me.” He looked at me with a blank face. He seemed as if he could really care less. I left the room in tears and asked the front desk if there was anyone else I could possibly talk to. The front desk was extremely considerate as they saw how upset I was. They ended up talking to a different provider that allowed me to schedule a future appointment. She also filled my medication. I was a patient of Dr. Singh prior to her moving on from the practice. I have also seen other providers in the practice. I have never had anything but great experiences prior to Dr. Jean Mbassi. This individual does not represent the values of St. Vincent. I would never recommend him to my worst enemy. I would like to submit a formal complaint regarding my visit. I hope no one is ever made to feel the way I felt leaving my appointment. He showed zero empathy, compassion, or understanding towards me. I feel it would be wise for hospital administration to reach out to his current patients to hear their thoughts about the care he provides. According to the front desk staff, I am not the only person who has had a terrible experience with this individual. I never received a physical examination."
"The entire staff was efficient and courteous and very caring. Dr Ayres is a fantastic doctor. He listens and answers questions thoroughly and is a compassionate person. He made me feel much more confident in dealing with my Parkinson’s disease after just one appointment. I look forward to continuing our relationship."
"We receive caring and knowledgeable service from Dr Current and her staff; we drive 80 miles from our new home for consistent care."
"I appreciate St Vincent’s health care! Dr Current is the best! So thankful to have a doctor who takes time to sincerely know how I’m doing. She gives me recommendations for healthy eating and exercise as a means to proactively maintain my health."
"Paramedics were great. Everyone else seemed distracted and slow. More interested in their socializing (pretty loudly at the station). I received care but they weren’t that busy. Didn’t get blanket when they said the would. No asking if my husband and I wanted water, etc. Dr Hole was good. Not a good experience though I have been going to st v since I moved to Carmel in 1975. My opinion is poor."
