Kerry Smith, Ph.D.

"Dr. Smith was assigned to be an impartial evaluator for my 604.10 B. To my surprise, Dr. Smith revealed herself to be unethical, highly biased and unprofessional. She took a mountain of damning evidence about my husband and didn’t report it. She “buried” and willfully didn’t opine on the extensive alienating things my husband was doing with my children. I gave her countless pieces of evidence in emails, and other communications that demonstrated my husbands emotional abuse of my children, his vindictiveness and unwillingness to co-parent. Even the motions my husband filed with the court, trying to remove my parental responsibilities, told a very compelling story about my husband’s true nature and intentions. Instead of reporting accurately, Kerry told multiple “untruths”, and a story colored in bias. When I gave her the opportunity to fix all of her errors, (one as simple as wrong DOB for my daughter) she refused to do so. She got stories wrong, made things up, and even attributed some of my qualities, to my husband. In a clear BLATANT LIE, Smith said my husband was agreeable and willing to help, despite her having multiple e-mails where my husband refused to allow my children to participate in family events, his willfully withholding information, preventing my daughter from hugging me, and numerous other terrible incidents and behavior he demonstrated that was far from “agreeable”. She took too long (many months) to complete her report, after telling the court numerous moving target dates of when she’d be finished, but failed to achieve dates she set, numerous times. She cancelled a scheduled appointment, last minute, to go visit her son at college (a foreseeable event), went on a trip to Italy, while having promised the report, and as my family’s lives were on hold, for her whims. In her report, she had sentences that didn’t end, sentences that made no sense, left out key information in her final recommendation, making everyone have to interpret what she possibly meant and “filling in the blanks”. She refused to fix her terrible report to reflect, accuracy, clarity, and truthfulnesses (even after I sent her a list of items that were not correct). She wants payment for her shoddy, malpractice and over-billing “work”. Instead of spending time fixing her report, she spends it invoicing. Her offenses (over billing for work not done, unethical practices, and bias, where her stated job is to be unbiased) should be reported to the Illinois licensing board. For anyone doing research beforehand on evaluators. DO NOT use this woman. Find a reputable clinician, who knows HOW to do the job, who exhibits professionalism, who can be impartial, and can write sentences that end properly with periods. It’s clear she did not proofread her final report (another sign of lack of professionalism)."

"I am not one to bash people via online reviews, but I will say that if you are a FATHER that gets assigned Kerry Smith, then you need to ask your attorney to immediately assign you a new parental coordinator for your own sake as well as the children. I am happy to discuss my experience to anyone who is interested. ***As a quick follow up to my review, Kerry Smith made sure my ex-wife posted a positive review the same day I posted my negative review which further supports the basis of my feedback."

"Kerry was my second PC agreed to by way of attorneys. The first pc had been a nightmare. Kerry was very professional, she tried to coach my ex on improving his communication style and more effectively coparenting. I found Kerry’s advice and approach to be incredibly helpful, she was great at diffusing my ex’s wild mood swings and anger. She always put our son’s best interest first as well. Highly recommended her and wish I was still working with her."

"I'm very surprised that she still practicing & her medical license hasn't been revoked taken away. I never seen a so called "Psychologist" that nobody like, it's best people hire their own instead of getting involved with the courts. Smith is shady & works the court system. She does favors bribes with the Public Guardian Office & works under the table with a former work name Lisa Nelson that's a former Public Guardian worker. Smith as well ALWAYS have excuses for everyone comments as if you're the one at fault. Her office & theses officials needs to be investigated. I never seen a Doctor without a picture, bad reviews, and seems like nobody like this woman because everyone up to you'll games!! She well know by my attorney Lester Barclay knowingly I didn't need to see a psychologist but did it anyway for me to get visitations for me to see my children & she fabricating lies to help my ex because she knows my attorney & Lisa Nelson as paying under table... We look on the News how police are crooked but lawyers doctors & these Psychologist are just as worst that needs to be exposed to the public...."

"I am still dealing with the fallout. The lawyer advocate for my son decided early on that my ex husband deserved custody. Kerry Smith actually told me that she had never seen a lawyer so biased "and come after someone the way Ms. Ciesla had" but she totally "made up" her report to support the attorney! It didn't matter that my ex husband was abusive. Didn't matter that I live in the best school districts. She still supported custody to my ex. Fast forward to now, my son has been in one horrible school after another. My ex refuses to use talking parents (to try and force me to be in contact with him) so I have no information about my sons illnesses, school needs etc. Effectively I have been cut out of his life (my ex lets him refuse to come home on the allocated weekends and I can't force him at this age). The child had so much promise... The woman should have her license revoked. She gets business from the court so keeping in good standing with the advocate lawyers is her only goal."
