"It looks very cool. You can pay to visit its interior but you’d have to get a pass that lets you visit both the submarine and the ships nearby. Since I don’t have too much time nor interest to visit the ships, I don’t think the getting the pass is worth the price for me."
"This self paced tour of the USS Torsk was great. We did this after we came out of the aquarium on a whim, bought tickets on the ship with no wait. The tickets are good for 1 year if unused and they get you access to 3 ships. No one else was in front of us or behind us so we had the vessel to ourselves! It was in incredibly good shape, well maintained with excellent signage. I’m small and I was with my son who is still under 5 feet so we were fine but if you are a large person or very tall you’re not going to be comfortable in here. And it’s a very tight space so if you are claustrophobic I would not recommend this for you. Engine room was fascinating as were the torpedo launchers and controllers. The layout gave us a very good idea of what it was like to live onboard a vessel like this. My son loved being able to touch things and explore firsthand history onboard a warsub like this. It’s not often enough kids get to do this. Would definitely go back again!"
"Very nice visit, well-maintained. Excellent surroundings. USS Torsk is one of less than 10 surviving WWII diesel submarines. It holds the claim to fame of having sunk the last vessel during WWII, on August 14, 1945"
"This is truly a fascinating visit. You get to go down through the submarine and read plaques about many of the different parts. It's amazing to see what it was like to be on a submarine. There are no recorded messages and no tour guide present when you're down there, but it's well worth the visit. Don't plan to bring a stroller through, because it won't fit through the bulkhead doors."
"It's incredible to think people lived here for months during a deployment. All the sailors must be fit as the walkways are small and hard to move through. You have to always face the stairs going up or down for safety and definitely watch your head."
