"Dr. Sowles is not only unprofessional but also condescending. He was late (by a minimum of 15 minutes) for every single one of my son's appointments, even when he had an appointment at the beginning of the day. While sitting in the waiting room for my son's last appointment, Dr. Sowles walked in for the day 20 minutes late (10:20 am for a 10 am appointment), which in turn caused my son's appointment to go late and for him to be late to work. On top of always being late, during my son's testing, Dr. Sowles started to doze off several times, and my son had to say something to get him to "wake" up and continue the testing. This caused his testing to go longer and, of course, we were charged for it. My son's evaluation was supposed to be completed in 3 to 4 appointments, but Dr. Sowles extended it to 6 appointments without a real reason, except he needed more time with him (time = $). Also, the way Dr. Sowles spoke to us during the first appointment was extremely rude and inappropriate. He tried to psychoanalyze my husband, even though he wasn't there... Dr. Sowles did so just by knowing my husband's occupation. During the last appointment, when we went over testing results, he did so in such a rude and condescending way, it was horribly unprofessional... he said some things in such a way that it made both my son and me feel like he was being overly dramatic (and honestly rude) in order to get us to make more appointments."
"Dr. Sowles is very kind, caring, compassionate and understanding. When speaking I feel heard and cared about which is important to me. He wants to meet me where I'm at while encouraging and challenging me to be the best version of me. To help me reach my full potential. I'm thankful for his willingness to incorporate my faith orientation (Christian) into our sessions as that's very important to me. I’m so thankful for the progress I’m making in therapy. I’ve made more progress since seeing Dr. Sowles than I have with any other mental health therapist thus far. I am very blessed to be able to be a client of Cornerstone Vision Counseling and Psychological Services. I would highly recommend them. I am also grateful for their support of WBCL (90.3) and STAR 88.3 through business partnership."
"He is an amazing therapist and has helped my daughter, husband and I to gain insight into so much. We have gained parenting tips and he has helped to us to know what to expect and guided on how to respond. Our daughter was diagnosed with adhd, odd and anxiety. We implemented some of his techniques but also went down the path of medication to aide along the way. Dr sowles helped guide us to a great Dr to work on the correct medications. We see both drs and they work together on the plan. Our daughter has grown and we as a family have gotten closer and happier since seeing him."
"Dr. Sowles is an incredible therapist with a huge heart for helping people! I would recommend him to anyone who needs an intelligent counselor to give them guidance and emotional support."
"He had a foregone diagnosis. Absolutely wouldn't listen to my wife, child or myself, literally repeatedly interrupted mid answer. My son was up unusually late the night before, when he told the dr that he was, he instantly started asking if his mind races, and if he wants to stay up to play every night (of course my six year does want to, but his normal bed tine is 7:30, but noone had a chance to tell the dr) He said it was sugar, when we said he doesn't get sugar, it was soda, and we didn't know soda has sugar, we corrected him again. Then he said it was t.v., once again he doesn't watch t.v., so it was computers, then it was video games, then he said tablets. He finally settled on grains and milk. He asked my son some intelligence questions, when he exceeded his expectations he stopped him before he actually had a chance to show how smart he was. He'd ask us questions and interrupt us before we could answer so ge could tell us that we were answering wrong (example me "he" him "you can't place labels on him" "has a tendency" which seemed irritate him. Overall he treated us like we wanted to push drugs on our child instead actually parenting him. I called and canceled his future appointments, yet he called the day of the appointment and implied (on a voice mail) that he was going to charge us for missing the appointment. Don't go to him if you care about your children."
