"I will try to make this as brief as possible but it will be difficult. First of all, just avoid this place at all costs unless you have ABSOLUTELY nowhere else to go to receive services. If you’re looking for an autism evaluation only though, absolutely avoid and save yourself the trouble and extra trauma. I’m an adult female who was looking for an autism evaluation. I needed a place that accepted Medicaid because I’m disabled and hardly work, and they did. I should have known then it was too good to be true. So here we go! Tiffanie, the billing lady, agreed that I could pay $100 down payment to schedule my assessment. Thank god I took screenshots. Later on, I was gaslighted and told she never said that. I brought my email evidence to the owners attention, after much back and forth with Tiffanie. Since I had my paper trail, they were able to honor my $100 but it should NOT have taken that. Very sketchy. Moving on, when I was finally given the evaluation, Dr Ndzana cancels that appointment when I’m in the car and only 10 minutes away. It sounded like he just rolled out of bed. Red flag. He asked to do it the next day, but anyone on the autism spectrum knows change of plans last minute is very distressful. I agreed, but it took much more energy I didn’t have. When I finally arrive at the facility, they don’t even check my ID before the eval. Dr. Ndzana also showed up in wrinkled, dirty clothes. He had lint in his hair. He was unkempt BOTH times we met and actually wore the same dirty outfit. I believe they are claiming to be able to assess adults for autism, but this couldn’t be further from the truth. He was giving me a test that isn’t even taken into account for autism anymore. I quote: “In 2013 the American psychiatric association eliminated AS as an independent diagnosis and amended the criteria for autism spectrum disorder to absorb the aspie profile, removing IQ and early speech from the equation entirely. Instead, the new standards as laid out in the fifth edition of the diagnostic and statistical manual of mental disorders, highlight specific patterns of sensory processing and social interactions, common areas of uniquely, autistic experiences.“ He administered IQ testing and not just that! He didn’t even know what he was doing. He had to keep referencing instructions. RED FLAG. He also didn’t take into account sensory processing and trichotillomania, which are huge factors. I can guarantee I know more about Autism in females/AFABs/BIPOC than he does, but I can’t formally diagnose myself. Testing was finally over and I paid my balance to get the results. Then I’m told I can’t have them until my insurance claim goes through, but I paid my agreed portion and services were complete. Also insurance pre approved so what was the deal? They were holding my results hostage and not even offering me an option to pay out of pocket. The whole entire experience was one bad vibe, but once I got that far, I saw it through so I could expose them. I could go on, but do you need any more evidence? Read other reviews and believe them. I was given results September 11th and waited this long to leave the review because I spiraled and it made me very suicidal. I was waiting until I wouldn’t be writing from pure emotion, and until it wouldn’t make me end up in the hospital from a mental breakdown. I’m still hurting very much from this experience. As far as I’m concerned, they are all terrible people that only care about themselves and money. This experience nearly broke me again, but I am hopeful I will get the justices I deserve. I have already reported them for Medicaid fraud. Look into it- you’ll find examples that sound very similar to my story. I also reported them to the better business bureau and am following up with the attorney general. If you want anymore information from me, or you had a similar experience and need help, please look me up on Facebook. ****Also please beware**** They might be selling your data. I started to get a bunch of spam calls when I started services. There is something shady going on at this place."
"The intake process was extremely long. It took 2 weeks for someone to contact us about an appointment. When finally scheduled the therapist canceled as she said she only does this part time and her main job is a professor. She kept saying that. We never even had a session. I felt as if the therapist was only focused on making extra income on the side instead of helping. I've never been to a therapist who only has one time she is available and emphasizes this is just her part time job. Very unprofessional and made us feel as if we were a bother. Main point is if you're a therapist and only taking therapy as a part-time job for extra income you probably shouldn't be a therapist. As it comes off as you do not care and have no empathy. I would suggest better therapists that show empathy and care about helping others instead of a pay check."
"I worked at Hope Haven for about three years during and after my graduate school experience. I was first a contracted evaluator and then a contracted post-doctoral fellow. I had a great experience throughout my time at Hope Haven and would highly recommend it as a place to work or to receive treatment. In terms of working at Hope Haven, Dr. Johnson encourages staff to pursue their career interests while promoting a supportive and caring work environment. In terms of working with clients, Dr. Johnson also goes above and beyond, ensuring care is ethical and clientele receive resources they need."
"As a conclusion to my clinical training before licensure, my experience at Hope Haven has been highly positive. The guidance I have received has been exemplary, and I feel well supported in my role as a doctoral clinician providing support to clients with a wide range of complex challenges. I feel truly blessed to have the opportunity to gain supervisory experience from the owner, Dr. Johnson, who exemplifies the role of a psychologist. Based on my experience, Dr. Johnson is of a rare caliber of a psychologist who is deeply committed to the profession, as evidenced by her compassion for her staff and clients under our care. I arrived at Hope Haven from out of state, and the support I received helped me to make the transition seamlessly. The positive support I have received is beyond measure. For potential clients, I highly recommend Hope Haven as a resource for attending to the complex challenges that can arise amid difficult life challenges. I can attest firsthand that through the support and guidance of Dr. Johnson, clients will be supported, nurtured, and offered the opportunity to engage in a process that has the potential to transform their lives in a positive manner."
"Working at Hope Haven is by far my best professional experience I have had thus far. The culture at Hope Haven and the atmosphere is very affirming, inclusive and supportive. The owner, Dr. Johnson has impacted my life positively in ways that I will never be able to express. She embodies what is means to be a true psychologist as she cares deeply about her staff and the clients that we serve. I came to Hope Haven during a difficult time of transition in my life and I have found nothing but a supportive environment. I have received excellent clinical supervision and feedback. I would also highly recommend Hope Haven to anyone seeking mental health services, because Dr. Johnson ensures that the clinicians feel supported and can grow is a healthy environment. The clinical team is very solid and we collaborate closely to ensure excellent clinical services. The whole team at the office is incredibly supportive, professional and knowledgeable. I could go on and on, and this is not an exaggeration. I highly recommend Hope Haven. We recently moved to a new facility, and the space is very comfortable, and that is definitely a bonus."
