"It is truly a blessing to find programs in the community for our young African-American children to participate in and gain professional experience from. Premier one dance conservatory is an example of excellence in molding Young African-American minds and bodies. The students range in age from 4 to 18 and are taught a myriad of dance styles (ballet, tap, jazz, modern interpretation and gospel). The staff is excellent at working with all age ranges, and teaching them how to work in collaboration with specific routines. Ms. Madison is the primary DC choreographer all while being a full-time student at an HBCU. She works with the on-site staff and works with the students when she comes home on, breaks to be able to pull off a flawless performance twice a year. "Please enroll your daughters in KENWOOD DANCE ACADEMY. If you want professionalism. It’s unfortunate that blacks can’t support certain blacks. This school is owned by one person but operated by the owner daughter that is currently in college. That statement says a lot. Madison is her name, she is ghetto, unprofessional, emotional, unethical, aggressive, uneducated, inexperienced, ignorant, uncontrollable, evil and ungodly. This young lady is never at the school to teach our daughters, but when she comes home on breaks she over works our kids, yells, disrespects, and shows favoritism. She has parents pay $1378 for tuition, two popcorn fundraisers that’s suppose to update the facility and haven’t seen any improvement. For dance recitals we have to buy 12 tickets $336 up front and you have to sell them to get your money back. Costumes are $336 also and they are so inexpensive, professional photos look like it’s printed from Walgreens. They take cash only, they don’t provide accurate receipts, they go over time, you have to pay for all holiday activities. This organization is so unorganized. The leadership is horrible. And no motivation at all, they mentally abused children with negativity. And disrespectful to the parents. Our black young daughters and parents are being financially and mentally robbed by this organization."
