"My best friend is about to give birth through IU, however she had the worst experience from not being properly educated on a lot of things (birthing plans, how to know if youre in labour, what to expect during labor, what may be needed if you may need c section etc) nurse gave an email with a how to list rather than having her come in to go into detail with everything, even with her ultrasounds it was a quick thing and a good bye. The pictures she got were also of random parts or not good pictures. I get the baby is moving but least you can do is take decent pics and explain what we are looking at. Rather than taking pictrures and saying this is not for pleasure its a job to make sure baby is healthy. Mind you, i understand doctors and team members can be over whelmed and busy, however when someone is going through pregnancy as a first time a lot of questions arises and you need a wholesome experience which was not provided at all. Not through the many cancelled appointments, not during ultrasounds, not during the many emails that were left no apologies from nurses who hung up when she had questions. Oh and dont even get me started on the way they checked if she was dilated. Pregnancy is scary, its beautiful its a roller coaster but education, help, care , guidance is needed. Never again will come here!"
"Spent 40 minutes scheduling a more urgently needed appointment only to drive 3 hours from my job in Bloomington (had been at work since 5:30am in the morning to accommodate the appointment) to my appointment in Carmel. I called ten minutes out and was assured everything was fine. When I arrived in the suite for my scheduled appointment, I was told that my doctor had to leave for a labor and delivery and I would need to come back another day. No sorry for the huge inconvenience…No one else who could see me…No one ever warning me that this was an end of day appointment and I could be left in this predicament. Just a “She won’t be able to see you today so we need to reschedule”. I was FLOORED. With the crazy cost of gas prices and a less flexible job like so many people today, I wasnt even given An ounce of empathy at the check-out counter and made to feel like there was nothing anyone could have done; however I know Community Health informs patients when they have been scheduled with an on-call doctor and informs them ahead of time if the doctor could be called out. I wish I had received ANY information so I wouldn’t have wasted my time, money, and efforts. I am very disappointed in IU Health and I think I’m permanently moving over to Community Health as a patient for all of my medical needs. Oh FYI, IU Health - you can go ahead and cancel my appointment for tomorrow. Some of us can’t drop everything TWO days in a row for an appointment that may or may not happen, and spend the money getting to and from if we don’t live nearby. If I could give this practice a Zero, I would."
"I had the quickest gynecology/Pap smear experience of my life with them. I was in and out in roughly 30 minutes. I am very impressed, because they were not empty by any means. Although I know that may not always be the case I am still impressed. There was a good handful of patients and I did not feel rushed. My nurse practitioner Linda Witham took her time with me and answered all of my questions. She was on time for our appointment and very friendly. She also updated me with my results and everyone who checked me in and out was also extremely friendly. Overall I am very impressed. I have had a hard time finding a gynecologist or OB/GYN that I wanted to stay with and I have finally found the one ."
"Delivered at IU North recently. My Dr and delivery RNs were wonderful. Highly recommend them. But this review is to reflect the NICU team that came into my delivery room and examined my baby after only a few minutes of letting us have skin to skin. Once her breathing was checked out ok - they went on to do a number of exams I requested be done at a later time including checking her weight. They had a bet about how much she weighed and when she weighed in at 10 lbs they all cheered with hands in the air. It was extremely unprofessional and upsetting as I had already asked them for my baby to be returned to me multiple times. I finally had to ask my dr to get my daughter back from the NICU team. My dr - who was performing minor surgery on me from an internal abrasion - had to stop what she was doing spin around and order NICU return the baby who was in no need of their care. I am writing this review in hopes that the NICU team on the evening of 1/20/2021 for our delivery at 5:45PM EST is reprimanded for their inconsiderate actions."
"If you can avoid IU Health do it at all costs. They are far inferior to St. Vincent or Community. Their care is awful. The doctors have repeatedly needed to leave the room to check my wife's chart because they didn't read it prior to seeing her. She is a high risk patient and they didn't take the time to read a chart. Often the Nurse Practitioner couldn't answer my wife's questions and said she needed to wait until the next appointment to talk with the Doctor. The scheduling company is a joke. To top it all off we are paying more at IU than we did for our first child at St. V. We have yet to have a smooth appointment that we left feeling comfortable with the future. These doctors have too many patients to give proper care to people and lives are at risk here."
