"This grand hotel has so much potential and renovations are underway. Positive notes 1. Sammie Jo at the front desk was very personable and helpful. 2 Michael, the maintenance supervisor was also very helpful. 3. The rooms were large, beds were comfortable and the hotel was full of character. 4. Hot spring water on tap in the lobby.5. the bar was nice with very personable bartenders. Negatives: 1. very run down, but I know they are working on that. 2. The restaurant is seldom open and the bar doesn't have food when there aren't enough staff. We went for buffet breakfast this morning but we were told the server left because no customers had come in yet. 3. There are no attendants to help with bags. One of the reasons to choose a hotel like the Arlington is the reputation of the service and dining services, but they are almost non-existent. I would like to give them another chance after renovations. They have a remarkable history, but that won't carry them through without better guest services."
"The rooms get only 4 stars because they need to be remodeled. Other than appearance, the bed is comfy, and there's a lot of space. The staff was so nice and accommodating. The breakfast buffet was phenomenal. And there was a nice selection of seafood and etc. at the Friday night buffet. The Lobby Bar was quick to make some delicious drinks....I suggest the Arlington Punch. It was worth paying extra to feel secure with the valet parking. The hotel is right across the street from Hot Springs National Park. And conveniently located to walk up the streets to shopping, eating, a brewery, attractions, museums, etc. Al Capone's suite was so cool to check out and hear the history of it. And the Crystal Room was beautiful."
"I love old buildings and appreciate architecture and that was the reason why I booked here avoiding my points and membership benefits from other hotel groups. But I was wrong. When you entered the corridor from the elevator, the smell was like visiting your grandpa room (I don’t know how to describe it). Then, if you succeeded entering your room with their dingy keys, you will find what you paid for. Coffee station with K- pop without any machine, dirty carpet that you have to put your socks on all the time, the bathroom was rusty (I didn’t even used) and mirror with black spots that you have seen in your Hollywood horror movies. The best part is they will charge you $15 as resort fees for this excellent amenities. Plus, breakfast is not free like other hotels in this price range. I can understand this building is old but you can do better job in an old building. It was such a shame!"
"This is a historic hotel and that's what you get. You must love history to enjoy it to the fullest. If you're lucky, you'll meet Sammie Jo at the front desk, who has as much character as this charming hotel. We loved the evenings in the lobby listening to live music and watching others dance. Beds were comfortable. Our room had a refrigerator, which was a surprise, and they are currently renovating and soon to have new carpets. Things are looking up here!"
"This hotel is so historic that it still has the same beds and linens from its inception! Seriously this stay was the worst hotel experience we’ve ever had. We came to Hot Springs for our anniversary. Hot Springs has been a wonderful experience, with the exception of The Arlington Hotel. Our mattress was so worn out it was form fitting like a burrito. There was a huge drop in the middle, the top and bottom were lifted up. On day two they did replace the mattress with another worn out mattress but it wasn’t as bad as the original. The rooms need updated badly, you can see the flooring through the carpet. The room is constantly hot, you cannot choose to heat or cool your room. The heat and a/c is controlled by the hotel and applies to the entire hotel. We paid $750 for three nights, big mistake. The positive here. We stayed in room 740, we had a great view of bathhouse row. The lobby was decorated beautifully and enjoyable. I’m hoping things change here, this could be a beautiful hotel."
