"New Beacon Hospice in Trussville came into our lives during November 2017. My husband was diagnosed with terminal cancer and wanted to die at home. We couldn't have asked for a more caring, considerate and dedicated nurse. She became like one of the family. The Chaplain was understanding and helped my husband enormously with spiritual issues. The Social Worker was supportive and encouraging to me as I faced the loss of my spouse. When I called the Main office, I usually spoke to a care worker within 3-5 minutes. I will be forever grateful to all staff including the "on call" nurses who had to step in on the weekends. My husband lost his battle with cancer in February 2018, but he was allowed dignity, respect and comfort until the very last second of his life. Hospice workers should receive high praise, not only do they help people die on a weekly basis, they fit this into their "normal" lives. As a family caregiver , let me say...Hospice workers have my profound gratitude."
"Very disappointed in New Beacon. Upon my mom's discharge from the hospital they did not meet us as planned at her home to help her inside. After waiting half an hour we managed to move her inside ourselves with difficulty. After an hour, the NB truck finally showed up with a wheelchair. Mom was in the final stages of cancer, but the day before she died, a NB nurse assured us that her vitals signs were strong and that she might regain consciousness. This gave us false hope and made her passing more painful. The NB personnel were all very nice but based on my experience I cannot recommend this service."
"My husband was had New Beacon Hospice and they were wonderful!!! He had Cancer, copd, & emphysema and we couldn't have had a more sensitive group of caring and compassionate professionals. We couldn't have had better care during these highly emotional times. God Bless"
