"My daughter loves this school and so far I do too. It's only her 1st year here but it's going good."
"I am not sure what the Noblesville school hype is all about. This school system is snobby and only attentive to children who do not need help. I have had 2 in this school and have been a volunteer in the classrooms, parties and field trips for both. I found it was not appreciated and I stopped volunteering. The children are not allowed to speak during lunch, hallways or pretty much ever. It is very military in style. Prepare for them to ask for your help and money constantly. The teachers, albeit one, treat you as babysitters and socialize while you do their job. Mind.... you still have to make up time for your own job and responsibilities. It is a very “holier than thou” attitude given by the staff. I found the East Middle not much better. When do these kids get to be kids? It is a horrible culture. I am all for ambition and intelligence, however, I believe all children should have a childhood. Perfection is not a worthy or attainable goal."
"We love our school. The teachers and staff are fantastic. The facility is top notch. The only current problem is that the school is over crowded. Really it has been from the time it opened 5 years ago. It's been a constant struggle to redistribute students among the schools in Noblesville because of the explosion of growth in the area over the past 10 years or so."
"Today at Promise Road Elementary School in Noblesville, IN there was a bit of an altercation between my son and one other boy initially (then one other randomly joined in). My wife Courtney called me at work to inform me that he was involved in a fight. Promise Road Elementary did not notify her until over an hour had passed after the fight had ended. Courtney was not given much information at all other than the involved parties were pushing and hitting. This situation was made to sound like it was no big deal to her over the phone. My son even got to call her, when he did he was in tears and in the middle of talking to her they took the phone away while he was crying to her on the phone. Naturally, my wife did what any respectable parent would do stopped what she was doing and went to school to discuss this fully understanding her son did do something wrong. Courtney arrived at Promise Road Elementary and tried to meet with the principle (Kelly Treinen) who was unavailable. She instead met with the Assistant Principle (Stephen Blackburn). Courtney had told me he was very professional and limited with any information he would provide. Now, through the course of their conversation, Stephen Blackburn did not once mention to my wife that our son was punched in the face, the body, knocked to the ground, and choked by this third boy who came out of nowhere. He did not even mention that my son was sent to the nurse's office. We found out this information AFTER our son came home from school and Courtney sat him down to talk to him. So let us talk about this for a moment. The only thing we truly know about this altercation from the Assistant Principal Stephen Blackburn is that there was shoving and hitting. We knew that boy A pushed our son (first mistake) our son pushed him back (second mistake), and then a third boy came into the altercation. Now for the sake of not making it confusing, we have Boy A, Boy B (our son) and Boy C (the third party) What Assistant Principal Stephen Blackburn at Promise Road Elementary School in Noblesville, IN failed to tell my wife was. Boy A pushed Boy B (my son) Boy B (my son) shoved Boy A back (at this point it may have ended we won't ever know) Boy C came into the picture ran up and punched Boy B (my son) in the face, then the body then knocked him to the ground, then got on his back and started choking him. Now what they also decided to do was grill the children in their offices for almost an hour, and then call the parents. Promise Road Elementary Failed to provide any information about the disciplinary actions for these boys other than all three had to choose between losing a month of recess or calling their parents. Two boys shoving each other justifies detention maybe a days suspension, loss of recess for a week or the rest of the week. Punching another child in the face, body, knocking him down and choking him. That calls for suspension and potentially expulsion if the behavior continues. That is a severe act of aggression that if left unchecked will become worse over time. Mind you these children are between 8-10 yrs of age. That is very young to be exhibiting this kind of behavior. To have it unchecked and provide the actual aggressor who physically attacked another child the same punishment as two young boys pushing each other is not okay. Treating these offenses equally is not acceptable. I am very disappointed that we were lied to by the school when providing information about what happened. Our son had to inform us that he was punched in the face, knocked down, and choked. The Assistant Principle (Stephen Blackburn) tried to brush this off like it is no big deal is a travesty and shows that the school thinks they know what is better for these children than their parents. Just my two bits over what happened today. I know for a fact I do not trust Promise Road Elementary School, Stephen Blackburn or Kelly Treinen to tell me what is going on with my child. We would never have known how he was violently attacked had he not told my wife after school."
"Awesome school! The staff is very personable and do a great job."
