"Back in March I was admitted at Grandview on the adolescence psych floor. I was having suicidal ideation, no plan as to actually doing it though. I was so scared. 18 years old and not understanding why I was having those kind of thoughts. After being admitted at 5am and the night nurse saying she would leave a note for the morning nurse not to wake me up at 7am, the morning nurse still woke me up!! After being “drugged” around 5am and with less than 2 hours of sleep the nurses wanted me to function ALL DAY and refused my request to take a nap. When I finally got to see Dr. Callahan we discussed why I was there and what was my thought process. After I tell her she then goes to say, “You should have stayed home and taken your medicine. You shouldn’t even be here.” I guess Dr. Callahan would rather you try to kill yourself before you seek help. NEVER send your kid to Grandview for mental health issues. Please send them to anyone other than Dr. Callahan. I have now been seeing my psychologist since March. I have been diagnosed with anxiety, depression, and panic disorder. I am on an anxiety medication and an antidepressant. I am doing so much better."
"Horrible service. Waiting over 3 hours past time for a scheduled phone appointment. This has happened every single time. Does not care for patients well-being at all."
"Please DO NOT take your Child to Grandview. We had an emergency mental health situation with my 13 year old daughter. At the advice of her therapist we took her to the Grandview ER for help. They asked us a few questions in the ER. We waited for hours in an temporary bed. Then with no explanation or talking to a police officer showed up to take my daughter upstairs to the adolescent psych floor. SCARY FOR NO REASON!!!she was wisked away and we were told she was in good hands. We reluctantly left her. I called everyday to speak with her because we could not visit! One day I was told she had lost her phone privileges. Absolutely Not. I made them get my daughter in the phone anyway. On the last day we finally met with Dr. Callahan who had 2 visits with our daughter , diagnosed her with a personality disorder. She prescribed her 3 meds and sent us on our way never to be heard from again. This is a very sad excuse for an actual resource to help anyone with mental health issues!!"
"After the way our daughter was treated this week, I wouldn't recommend taking my dog to Grandview Medical Center as Callahan is their staff psychiatrist on the adolescent psychiatric floor. My daughter has no history of mental illness and was telling us that she was afraid that she was going to harm herself. We made the hardest decision of our lives to take her to the hospital for help. When she met with this pitiful excuse of a doctor, she asked our daughter what she was even doing there and told her that she should've just stayed home and taken her medicine. Keep in mind that our daughter has NEVER had a mental health episode. These people are supposed to HELP our children! I was disgusted to arrive for our first visit roughly twelve hours after our daughter's admission to the hospital. I found my child with swollen eyes and a tear-soaked face and was then told by my daughter what had happened. We IMMEDIATELY took our daughter home. Grandview Medical Center should be ASHAMED of having such a terrible person on staff. I wouldn't treat my worst enemy the way my eighteen year old daughter was treated. There is a special place in Hell for such people that call themselves doctors. The nurses on staff were no better. I was yelled at like I was a child for bringing a stuffed animal. My family is traumatized by this experience. PLEASE...if you love your child, do NOT take him or her to Grandview Medical Center for any type of mental issues. "Doctor" Callahan is a terrible person. I would hate for anyone to have to endure what we went through. I would give NEGATIVE stars if possible. This whole experience was Hell on Earth. That woman deserves to be fired and have her license revoked. She is truly evil and has NO compassion for the children that she is there to treat."
"Refused to call me back after almost a week and didn't talk until my husband refused to hang up until he spoke with someone. She changed my daughter's medication without permission and said she doesn't monitor medication because it's not necessary. Never have I seen such an unprofessional doctor in my life! Never go see this doctor."
