"A great memorial built to honor those who have sacrificed themselves for our safety. The New York Fire Department holds annual remembrances here. There is some seating near the fountain which joggers, dogwalkers and people with children frequently use. The steps face west so on a warm day the area can be quite hot."
"I love coming to riverside. Its so clean and peaceful. I took this picture in the pouring rain I took my shoes off and almost fell on the marble slab that this particular area where the statue is made of. I got soaked taking this picture. I didn't mind though. I love the rain."

"This memorial to New York City's brave firemen is a beautiful tribute to those men (and their horses) who have lost their lives in the line of duty. Each year firemen from all over come here to pay their respects and place flower wreaths. It is located at the end of West 100th Street on Riverside Drive and can be approached from several ways up stairs or directly from Riverside Drive and 100th Street. There are a few marble benches you can sit on and the area has lots of green parks. The area is close to Riverside Park and surrounding the monument are green spaces, walking paths, and varied trees and shrubs with Hudson River views and westerly sunsets."
