"My husband is 42 he fell while getting off the toilet ( come to find out he had a major stroke ! ) and Woodlawn treated him for a hurt hip ! Tried to discharge him at 330 pm I freaked out bc my husband couldn’t even walk , his left side was dead weight arm leg and his face was drooped after I freaked out the nurse said well hang on and talked to the 90 year old doctor and decided to transfer him to a larger hospital which they did 14 HOURS after my husband had a major stroke and Woodlawn never even tested him for a stroke. We Will be getting an attorney since Woodlawn neglected proper care for my husband the damage is irreversible and he is now disabled for life ! This hospital is an over priced band aid shop. If you want your loved ones to survive go to a different hospital."
"We took our 2 year old here for a fever of 105. I knew it was a mistake when we got into our ER room and the nurse said that Motrin wasn’t a fever reducer. After waiting in our room for 45 minutes she finally came in to give him a Tylenol suppository. When I asked why he can’t have oral Tylenol she said because a suppository will take effect 5 minutes quicker. After waiting for 45 minutes for treatment, that hardly seemed to be worth the absolute trauma a suppository did to a 2 year old. They sent in an xray tech to xray his chest before the doctor even stepped foot into the room to see him, we had no complaints of any respiratory issues, just the fever. He tested positive for covid later on and did have minor inflammation in his lungs. The doctor ordered a shot of antibiotics to prevent pneumonia. When the second nurse came in the give him his shots he tried to talk us out of it because it was very painful and wouldn’t do anything for a viral infection like covid. After we explained to him the doctor wanted it to prevent pneumonia from ever being a concern, he said he could see why it was important then. Every staff member there lacked even the basics of bedside manner and considering it was a toddler as the patient it was beyond unacceptable. The staff also failed to have an elementary understanding of medications and what they’re used for. We will never return to this hospital for any kind of so called care."
"My daughter went to the ER and filled out her charts the person at the desk put wrong information in the charts as headache and burning body pain. However on the handwritten chart my daughter filled out it said total body pain. The Dr came in and started talking about headache meds and I asked about the body pain which was abdominal, he stated the chart says headache and burning pain. So I asked if they read the paper chart because that's where my daughter put her information. He got upset and said he didn't have to because that's not what was put in the system. I asked again and he got mad and stated this was the first he had heard of it and left not taking into consideration he was addressing the wrong issue instead of asking more questions to help her. We were discharged and left with no answers and nobody ever once checked the paperwork my daughter filled out describing the issue at hand. Apparently they don't have to which explains their below average rating. My family will be traveling out of town for future health issues as this is only one of many bad experiences we've had at the woodlawn ER !"
"I have had several great experiences at Woodlawn (surgery based and appointment based). Recently I had to have my daughter seen and was struggling to find someone with an open schedule. Kyle Sommers, FNP took over and get me in the office that same day. She was diligent, confident, and down to earth. Her staff was extremely friendly and talked to my girls and I like they’d known us for years. This is the kind of care that gives me hope for other people who are struggling to find the right care provider for them."
"I had a blood clot in my leg 2 weeks prior. The hospital staff was very nice. The ER Dr. Brunk was extremely rude and arrogant. He would not let me explain my history and just made abrupt judgement calls. I was in the ER for 2 hrs and was not getting any treatment other than the same general examination my Dr. did 2 days prior. I ended up walking out under their 3 hr min ER time limit. I will never go back to this Hospital."
