"I’ve never had a provider catch such a bad attitude as to tell me I’m in the wrong place (was told by IU health to come to this location) then she was SO upset about having to ask her supervisor a question she SLAMMED the visit room door! Never in my life have I seen something unprofessional on that level in a doctor office. I left because obviously, they can’t help me."
"This review is pertaining to a recent visit with my daughter to have labs Drawn. My daughters name was called we were taken back by a phlebotomist name Kascey.I explained to Kascey that my child has very small veins and she’s a very difficult stick. With the nastiest disposition and tone, she told me that she was going to use a particular needle after sticking my daughter three times with no success. I asked her to take it easy. Which her reply to me was if you want me to stop then just say it with the nastiest tone. Another phlebotomist Nayja had to take over In which I reiterated that my daughter is a hard stick. She was great and got the job done in one stick instead of three. I’m not sure if Kascey Has an issue With the fact that we are black, but her unprofessionalism is not becoming of IU hospital. I will never recommend IU Children’s Hospital to anyone, I would rather drive to Cincinnati Children hospital Before I recommend IU ever again. I just wish and hope that Kascey Realizes that it doesn’t matter the color of your skin. It’s all about the best patient care you can offer someone.I hope IU can get it together and hire some true professionals they aren’t worried about your race."
"I was having chest pain so I selected IU Health North Emergency Room. I was immediately registered by a kind person at the front desk. Afterwards, I was promptly seen by a nurse and another person who drew lab work, EKG and vital signs. I returned to the waiting room being told they were very busy but they would go ahead with a chest X-ray so everything would be done when there was an ER room available. The X-ray tech was very kind and efficient to get my chest X-ray. I waited in the waiting room for a few hours. My chest pain had subsided so I was comfortable sitting to wait for an open bed. The nurses in the ER were wonderful to a child to give her the needed medication before getting her a room. I was finally called to be placed in a clean and comfortable room to be placed on a monitor. A paramedic drew more bloodwork. I was there for awhile before I saw the ER physician, Dr. Rettig. After talking to me, she diagnosed me with pneumonia. She was very kind and thorough with her exam. She was very apologetic for the time I had to wait in the ER. Their ER is very busy but I would gladly wait for the kindness and caring staff including Dr. Rettig. I highly recommend IU Health North ER to anyone needing competent emergency care."
"DO NOT COME HERE! This was my 'goto hospital' but after my last experience yesterday, I would not recommend this hospital for my DOG. If I could, I would give zero stars. I rarely leave bad reviews but I feel it's my duty to warn families based on a bad experience at this organization. Here are just a handful of bad experiences: 1) There are no beds available in the main hospital - why admit more patients? 2) We were left to use an ER room. This means you will be last for everything - since ER attention is on critical issues that are in-coming. Wreck on 126th st....Lucky you see anyone ... 3) Call button not being responded to, 4) Call button response time was as long as 5 mins. 5) No food or drink provided. 6) Bad communication between doctors and nurses station. 7) No check-ins by nurses for 3 hours. 8)Simple actions like taking your loved-one to the restroom required the disconnection of 4 wires - I did this myself 4 times. One time we forgot to attach some of the wires and nobody noticed- which means we were not being supervised at all. If my loved one had fallen in our room, I believe they would be on the floor for 2-3 hours. 9) Broken promises of service - "I will be to your room in 5 mins" didn't happen for us twice. This is why we decided to leave. This hospital has simple issues based common and empathic treatment for patients. Based on other reviews below, it seems this bad care has been going on for a months. It's reputation as an IU Care facility in Carmel blinds customers/patients into believing this facility is the best when, it is the WORST. READ OTHER REVIEWS: Don't take my words to heart, look at the other reviews below mine and will notice a the same pattern of poor empathy for patients. If you decide or weren't able to choose IU North, I would recommend someone ALWAYS be with loved one - Do not leave them by themselves. If you want to bring yourself or a loved one at this hospital DO YOUR RESEARCH FIRST! - check to see if there are beds available. Also consider St. Vincents North or St. Vincents 96th St. The St. Fransiscan is south but may have better service."
"This review pertains to the ER department, specifically for children/infants. We were advised to visit this emergency room by our pediatrician in the case that our child’s symptoms worsened. They did and we came. Trust me, just go somewhere else. Drive the extra 20 mins to Peyton Mannings hospital. Each staff member that we came into contact with was pleasant, especially the emergency room pediatrician. That is the positive. Here are a few of the negatives: - during our nearly 3 hour wait in the waiting room we sat and listened to the lobby police officers say horrible things about former patients, cussing the entire time(the patients they were talking about were children, and there were children in the lobby). - when we finally did get to our room, it clearly had not been cleaned prior to us coming in. At best, the sheet on the bed was changed. The trash was almost overflowing, the dirty linen bin was completely full, and the floors had debris and spots all over them. It was disgusting. - we were CONSTANTLY promised “20 more minutes” by several different staff members. At the time of writing this review, we are still here 5 hours later waiting on ONE medication and discharge. Again, most of the staff was very pleasant, so I’ll leave our review at this. There are some serious organizational issues here, so just save yourself a lot of time and heartache and visit a different hospital until they figure it out."
