"I recently had a medical emergency and was brought to St. Mary’s Hospital for help. The emergency staff immediately went into action upon my arrival. They knew exactly what to do, working very quickly and got me stable. They took such good care of me while I was there for a few days to recover. I had so many nurses and doctors checking on me round the clock! I felt safe and I knew I was in very good hands! After I was released I’ve never felt better! They made sure I was 100% before I was released and they gave me instructions for follow up and numbers to call if I needed anything or had any questions. Waiting times were much shorter than expected and to my great pleasure, staff responded to the room call button almost immediately. All in all a wonderful experience. "ED Staff needs serious compassion training immediately. I’m a medical professional for over 20 years. I’ve never been to an ER for myself as a patient, and unfortunately had to go twice in one week. The second time was at St Mary’s. Never again. I moved out here a couple years ago from Cook County and my regular physicians are at reputable hospitals closer to Chicago. Which is why I went elsewhere earlier in the week. Except for the phlebotomist, every staff member at St. Mary’s was clearly bothered that I was there. I was alone and worried. My concerns were minimized and disregarded as soon as I started telling them why I was there. Even my medical records read like I just showed up to complain for fun. I could not regret going to this ED more. I will be sharing this experience with my regular physicians."
