Reviews of Colonels Row
"One of the iconic streets on the island, summer is specially fun with many activities every weekend. And during winter they had a winter land last year, with a skating rin, hot chocolate a sauna and many other fun little activities."
"Governors Island is a spectacular spot that has just recently been discovered by EVERYONE in NYC. It's gotten very crowded now but is still fabulous. The views from the Island of the Statue of Liberty, all the East River bridges, and lower Manhattan are among the best in the city. There are also many events held on the Island. At the moment it's the NADA Art Fair (but a mini version versus previous years art's celebrations). As of this writing, things are still in pandemic protocol stage but I expect restaurants etc. to soon be back up and running full-steam ahead.. Especially like the Island Oyster spot when it is back to normal service."
"For several years it was tradition that on City of Water Day, those who paddled or rowed to Governors Island could camp overnight because the tidal currents almost never align to allow everyone to get to the island and return home safely during daylight hours in a single day. My favorite spot that they allowed the paddlers to camp was Nolan Park but Colonels Row was another spot on some years. It was quite surreal to camp amongst the empty houses at either spot and to know that despite the quiet here you were still surrounded by a city of eight million people."
"Interesting arts happen here"
"Spent the last week working on experimental theater on Colonels Row. Wonderful!"
