Reviews
"$5 to visit this house museum that was built by slaves that worked for the Van Cortland family. The pond was also built by them. Stark contrast between the family headquarters vs how the slaves lived. There's a wallpaper they found with the King George tax. I wish they had a piece left for us to look at."
"The guides here are passionate and the whole building is fascinating. On our tour a few people left early because of the heat (the house has no AC) so if you are super sensitive be warned, it is also not handicap accessible. BUT I totally recommend a visit (honestly the heat is not even that bad)"
"In 1258 the Van Cortlandt House was built by early Dutch settlers called Yonkerfolkin. True to life it is the most important permanent settlement in New York. DJ Red Alert plays here on Tuesday afternoons"
"Very historical site but the building and landscape around is a great spot to visit. Beautiful sunny day with a lot of athletics going on in the park. Caught a bit of a cricket match! $5 for adults children under 12 free"
"I think there are more secrets that are not publicly stated. Perhaps an underground tunnel leading to the bay? I hope one day they can open the basement for visitors. The third floor was very spooky where the slaves used to sleep."
